Corolla is happening if the car comes into my possession. That’s 2 weeks of after work work to get a car that’ll double my money easy.

And I really thing headers just have to happen. ONLY because I’m tired of not having a tail pipe

Still waiting on some parts for my rear seals, bearings and disk conversion but hopefully will get the work done over the holiday. Maybe I'll start a build thread or something in the mean time.

Before blowing my real axle seal and even pulling the trigger on the disk conversion, I was doing some other upkeep work on the truck. I had planned on replacing just the boots on my driver's CV axle a few weeks ago, as a small tear had finally turned into a big one, kindly greasing my frame. The inner joint on the original axle was damaged and that part is discontinued from Toyota. I went to Oreillys and got a (much cheaper than oem...) complete replacement axle assembly and put it in to try. I have only driven 10 miles on it but the fins on the boots are rubbing. I have a diff drop and my OEM CVs have been great for me with my type of wheeling, so I shelled out the money for a brand new OEM axle assembly. I will end up trying to sell the Oreilly's one and then I can keep the damaged OEM one as extra parts. I didn't snap many pictures when working on this because the smell of 90W is unbearable.

    IMG_20201129_115849_01.jpg

Also planning out a front end refresh as these shocks are going to be removed, I have a set of Total Chaos spindle gussets to put on, and my LCA bushings are starting to look a little worn. The boot on my driver's tie rod end has a small crack in one of the fins that's caused some grease to seep out. My LBJs haven't been replaced since I believe '08ish when the recall work was done. Truck's gone through a lot since then that's for sure.

Brake shoes are going to go in the garbage since one is oil soaked and I won't need them of course. The drums are probably about six months old. Does anyone know if the one that got oil soaked is reusable? Also, if so, do drums from our trucks fit a second gen six lug Tacoma?

I crawled underneath the truck yesterday to take a look at the leak and my diff breather. The breather was full of crud so I can see how the oil took that seal as the path of least resistance. I've read threads on DIY relocations so I'm going to plan for that as well.

    20201220_094201.jpg

On my last wheeling trip I was occasionally getting a weird sound and axle wrap from my rear when braking. It felt like the ABS came on it as well but I didn't hear the truck 'moo' at me. I think I might have found the culprit. Both of the AAL's are like that, front and back, they are also both different lengths. Awesome. I guess I'm going to start planning a new rear leaf pack and for now I'll clamp down these new fancy elongated lift blocks.

@Tundra2 A few pages back we were talking about bump stops - here's how my Timbren ABSTOFs sit with about 3" of lift. Much taller than the OEMs but they don't rest on the LCAs. Sorry for the bad lighting.

I hate you guys. We've had a cold December so far. My wife is down in Key West without me. :(

My dad asked how I was doing and I sent him this back.

Yup yup. Swami's and Boneyard to the north of it can be good little spots too this time of year when the tourists are gone.

You should have seen them on the side of the road when the axle for the trailer split in the middle.

Boy, you talking about a mess. Pieces of trailer went fucking everywhere.

No repossession going on here. Closing shop. That trailer used to be the "office" of a buy here pay here lot.

The owner of the lot decided to retire. He posted a local advert for $500 for the trailer. Anyone who wanted it could come pay him, and tow it home.

It was hooked up to this little red dodge the next day.
The axle exploded in the middle. It did rust in half. That dodge was pulling that pile of shit about 30 mph on the right hand lane of a 4 lane by pass. You think that truck is squating in the pics? Hoooooo boy. That dude was 135% maxed out on its rear leafs when the axle busted, and the floor of the trailer was on the pavement.

I will give that dodge credit though. Good ole boy behind the wheel gave that little gas engine hell, and it squalled them tires getting over onto the emergency lane. It did get there though.

I think they were cited with some sort of mass littering tickets, and improper equipment. Endangering public, maybe?

Fun fact: James best, or you may know him as Roscoe P. Coltrane is from Powderly, Ky.

That's actually where I took the picture of the dodge.

    Funny how that works.

This is sean pistols old truck from expedition portal that was crashed and rebuilt. The new owner put a sequoia hood on it with the grille. Wonder if the grille would fit normally as i really love the look of it.
