Thanks fellas, that’s what I get for reading a write-up and assuming the 1st grey plug I come too was it without looking real close at it

Taco? Slowly moving. Thanks to the fraudulent purchases that kinda fucked the credit up for the month, I can’t order the shit I was going to for it

Wrap some electrical tape around those open connectors to keep them corrosion free.

35s is the plan. Not sure if I'm going to run a set of 33s first as I still commute in my truck during winter and a re-gear is a ways off yet.

Little toe-in action out back, eh? Is that just picture angle or accurate representation?

Currently, the car has 1/8" total toe-out up front and 3/16" total toe-in out back. I'll get the rear toe sorted when I install all the fancy bushings I have in a box on a shelf in my basement....and new torsion bars next to them...and new shocks I've yet to purchase because OMG they're forking expensive.

Just a random thought.....had a set on my taco

How come you don’t see any bed stiffeners for the first gens? They just not need them or what?

No one makes em that I know of. I guess the composit beds need em more than metal beds. I've also looked for some as well as a tail gate reinforcement with no luck so far. I remember back in the day tail gate reinforcements were popular on many trucks

If you are off-roading and/or carrying heavy loads (especially both) the bed can flex too much and cause damage. I don't know for the life of my why Toyota went with a composite bed on the 2/3 Gen Tacomas other than lightness just to keep the overall weight of the truck down...but it doesn't seem worth it to me...maybe @empty_lord has some tech insight as to why?

my Tacoma’s bed was bowing out from the weight of the camper top

I figure they went composite so the couldn’t rust :anonymous:.... :rofl:didn’t help the frames any though

Sounds like a nice thing, but I’ve had just about every type of heavy load in my bed and never had a problem. One time I was hauling river pebbles (grape sized) for some yard work on the Hand Model Residence. Got to the landscape place for my 3rd load that day. It was end of day and a new goofy guy was on the front loader. Goofy dropped the entire load at one time instead of a slow pour. It was like the commercials where they make the truck look ‘Chevy Tough’. It takes a lot to surprise me. I jumped out of the truck and no damage.

I don't see why it'd cost any more to have a fab shop whip up some brackets. They're just four strips of 3/16 or 1/4 bar welded into a 90* bend and then into angle-iron with holes where your bed bolts are. If you have a welder, or access to one, you could make them yourself for <$30.
