If anyone comes across a set of CV axles out of a wreaked tundra, let me know. I cannot source any decent ones locally. I need a second set to reboot and put in the truck. Tired of the shitty aftermarket binding in 4x4

It's only $35 so if you decide to do it, you aren't out more $ than a tank of gas. I just can't recall more than one or two members having to replace their pumps. They seem to last forever.
I asked @tenntundra, he's still on his original power steering pump at 400K miles.

Biting the bullet on my wifes Element and having the motor swapped. I ordered a new clutch yesterday at noon, not even 24 hours went by and its on my door step. Amazing!

Head needs new valve seats, that's not really expensive but time consuming for me and I forgot how much oil this motor leaks until recently.

I've weighed my options out. I wanted to pull the head without pulling the motor, but thats more painful than I thought. The timing cover doesn't leave much room to be maneuvered in or out, and when installing it back in I have to bead sealant on it and hope it seals. If I pulled the motor the job wouldn't be as bad, but with that much work I may as well replace it. Motor has 225k+ miles on it.

I added up costs on swapping it myself, its about $1600 and that doesn't include getting a cherry picker and a motor stand to swap some parts from one motor to the other. I talked to a few shops and found a guy who will do it all for $2300. I'm tired of my wife saying I never have time to fix it, and she's right, so I don't mind spending a bit more to have a shop do it. Plus, I can upgrade the stereo in my truck this weekend and not hear her complain since she will have her car running again. We both win.

That makes sense. Where did you source the new motor from?

The shop I talked to is taking care of that, hes gonna buy one of those low miles Japanese motors. You have to swap the intake and air injection over because the Japanese are slightly different.

Just saw an RV towing a jeep wrangler, not all that unusual.

However, this is the first time I've seen a vehicle towed behind a camper without a car dolly, or trailer.

Just hook to it, and go letting all four wheels on the towed car support itself.

It makes we wonder if it counts mileage on the towed car, or how that works? That mileage isn't non-existent on the jeep.

    Any of you all know?

@empty_lord a while back you were talking about plugging holes, maybe you meant the frame? Either way, does Toyota sell something? It seems they use some 3m type patches on the body. I covered this one but I'm not sure it will stay.

If nothing else. Sand down all the remnants, clean with alcohol, and then apply some sort of flex tape.

If memory serves thats some sort of foam like substance?

I think thats to let water drain out, but not splash back in? If so, maybe flex tape is a bad idea.

Anybody have a picture of our body mounts for the cab to frame? Looking for a picture of just the mount (stand alone). Want to see what it looks like not mounted.

You just summed up my life in 1 pic. I've got 3 SHOs, and my 320k mile tundra. Hell, my work van is my lowest mileage and newest vehicle. 13 with 130k.

Spot on. Why buy something like that and not enjoy it?

Thinking about it, it may be a weekend car. I drive my truck only on weekends, and sometimes not all of them. I fill it up about every 3rd month, which is around 1200 miles a year. 1200 X 16 years is 19200. So it kinda makes since, but if I had that I'd have to drive it more.

@empty_lord what work is it getting done?

That actually sounds a little dangerous. I've always heard 10 years was about the safe lifespan for tires.

I've owned two third Gen Supra's, an 86 1/2 and an 89 turbo. Man those were fun cars, I lusted after those 4th Gen's but could never afford one. That 15K mile one would probably still fetch a pretty penny today.

Ahhh... I was wondering why my axle seemed to be binding when going full wheel lock while parking. Likely that I have crappy aftermarket half axles too.
