Night was going swimmingly. All things went to shit, and then we started putting out all the "fires."

Answering one call at a time. Finally got to the absolute worst job of the night. Pulled a servo injection unit out, and drilled out all the snapped ¼-20 stainless steel bolts that were broken.

Drilling out the last bolt stud with a left handed drill bit with safety squints on. I heard "TINK!" I said "My eye!"

I had a shard of stainless bolt go over my safety squints, and into my right eye. I closed my eye, and kept working with the left eye open. Around 9:45 pm local time

I finally worked it out with water around 12:43 am local time.

Here are some pictures. The scale is in millimeters.

    Time for full scale pictures.

at least it didn't rust in my eyeball.

I did get that press put back together, and running good moon roof weatherstrip before pulling off for lunch.

I just noticed today that my foglights now stay on with the high beams.

I am 100% sure it was not doing this before I installed the projectors.

I have noticed after a little experimenting that with the high beams on, and fog lights on. I can turn the fog lights off, but not on. When I go to low beams I can turn the fogs back on, and then turn the high beams back on and the fogs stay lit.

Any ideas whats going on, or if its serious?

Back as a kid in the unnamed region of Appillacia we used to rub coal dust in our eye scratches. Acted as excellent fill. Organic carbon based, too. Sometimes momma (when she was around) would spit tobackky (tobacco) in it for extra measure.

I don't fuck around with eye injuries. I had a buddy lose an eye. Not fun. I wear eye pro even when a lot of people wouldn't.

That’s a mod that many of us want! Is it possible that there is a bad/stuck relay?

Thank you! I'm glad I got it out too. A co-worker joked with me asking if it hurt worse going in than it did coming out.
Yeah, its not fun. I was wearing the big goggles you wear over normal glasses? You know the ones I'm talking about?

Beer goggles is what I call them. Even so, that shard bounced right into my eye like I wasn't wearing anything. Sharp little fucker too.

Given your profession, I would look into some prescription safety glasses. They would be worth the cost I think. The ones you're talking about leave a lot of room for stuff to get in as you just experienced. My company will actually pay for a pair for me. I'm going to do it once I'm allowed to return to the plant.

    Come work for us Noah!

I think I just need the "batman" goggles with the foam eye "cup" thingy.

Boy howdy, they've run me through the ringer lately. I'm sure considering an employer change.

I have horrible, horrible stories of goings on that are super fuckin NG.

While I'm employed... but all employers make under the table deals with health departments in the next county over to guarantee a negative Wu-flu test, right?

Thats normal? Yeah. Typical day at work.

"Oh, your temp was high? Come stand under this AC pipe, and then we will take your temp. Sound good?"

Thats the tippy top of the ice berg. Lol

Man, I hate dealing with stainless. We don't have to very often, but it's a bitch. Burns up bits, self tappers barely work, ugh.

Two things. First, make sure you file a report on that injury. As stupid as it sounds, workman's comp exists for a reason. Second, the lighting thing happens with some LED retrofits. Something about resistance or voltage draw on the circuit? Makes the fogs switch go wonky, or fogs stay on all the time.

I put back mild steel bolts in its place. Mucho bettero after all that tapping.

I'll fill out an accident report tonight.

Possibly. I am by no means complaining that the fogs stay on. I just don't want my truck to burn down over something I'm aware of.

ITs there the bumpers just slightly damaged and it doesn’t sit 100% but I’m not buying a new bumper yet. Eventually it’ll get the full S model bumper if I keep it for long

Good to hear you got it out OK, eye injuries suck. A few months back I was drilling a bunch of holes (upwards) into my travel trailer frame to install new stabilizer jacks. I had safety glasses on but some shavings slipped through the top of the glasses into my right eye. It took 4 trips to the eye Dr to dig them all out, a few Rx's of drops, and weeks to regain total vision.

I now wear safety goggles, not glasses when drilling.

Thanks! Since the Wu-Flu mask outbreak safety glasses have no longer been required at work. I only wear them now when doing tasks like I was last night.

I'm gonna order a set of cheap glasses from Big Gurll. Checked with my supervisor last night. Unless you have a prescription then work will not reimburse you. Figures.

Link to the glasses I'm eyeballin

POV: You're me, and rollin' southbound on your way to work. Its a crisp, cool, sunny day. Simply too nice a day to go to work.

You pass corn fields, and bean fields that are ready for harvest. Lots of people are outside enjoying the nice weather. You wave as you go by.

Kenny Roger's Coward of the county comes on the radio. "Oh hell yeah." You turn up the radio slightly.

Its gonna be a good day. No matter what.

I've been meaning to ask. These are not factory grounds are they?

    0920201848_HDR.jpg

They run to the fuse box. I'm guessing it's for the plug under the dash which everyone seemed to think was for a brake controller.
