There is usually only a vast majority of bad suggestions on the auto threads. The auto body subreddit makes me grit my teeth, a lot. There are a lot of hacks giving really poor advice to green people that don't know any better. I try to help sometimes, but I get drowned out by the DIYers that know more than me. :annoyed:

It probably only cost the manufacturer a few extra hundred bucks to make them with the specialized parts. Markup = 10x

I actually got a follow up from a guy who was gonna replace his starter. I told him it wasn't the starter and he cleaned up his terminals and it started. That was my good deed for the year.

Before I started working on my own truck my mechanic put 555’s on my truck. When I found out later and asked him why he didn’t use OEM, he said 555’s were better. Had never seen 555’s fail but had seem OEM fail.

Still got a set of OEMs and changed out the 555’s myself.

I wanted to love my magnaflow, but they need an intermediate size and volume. Tone is perfect. Volume is just too much. Honestly my TRD drones a bit more than I’d like too.

I got some aftermarket LBJs that are supposed to be better than OEM. We'll see... Truck had some TRQs when I bought it and I beat on those for 6 years.
I'm hoping I never have to worry about LBJ failure again on my 06. :D20250221_162437.jpg

Your TRD drones? Weird... And you kept the resonators.
I removed both and have no drone. I just wish it was a little louder.

Where did you dump your exhaust?
I recall you didn't keep the TRD tips

I’ve gotta flip my muffler so its not the low hanging fruit. Gonna keep the driver side as a cowboy single, and replace the pass side with a resonator. Clamped to the muffler.

Who knows, might just run a few feet of 1-1/2’ pipe for tips this truck doesnt need 2-1/2” pipes
I wont interact with those ‘people’.

Are those similar to the TC uniball? I have yet to see a failure in them, but they are also not yet 10 years old.

I found out that I had 555's(previous owner work) when I did my preventative maintenance replacement with OEMS last month. The passenger side LBJ bolts were 15mm and the driver side bolts were 17mm. The castle nuts were also different sizes.

The outer tie rods were also aftermarket but they are OEM now.

    I dodged a bullet.

I bet we are going to start seeing failures soon from people that do not maintain the uniballs regardless of if they live in rusty environments or not. Or do not replace the uniballs when its time. Teflon liner failing and wallowing out the hole etc. I see some people pushing or believing the uniballs to be a bulletproof upgrade when they require just as much attention as the stocks if not more.

Upfront cost for the uniballs is more, but maintaining them is cheaper if you maintain the bearings themselves and replace them when necessary.

By dumped do you mean cut? That’s where I cut mine and I always wondered if I should’ve cut it AFTER the axel. Remember once reading we needed a certain length of pipe after the muffler…

I've had the exhaust dumped after the axle, before the axle and routed behind the back tire out the side. Before the axle was the loudest with the most drone.

Yup that's what Keith of DD says. Longer pipe for most power, too. That's why I dumped mine after the axle
