I can picture that. One of my favorite shows growing up. We used to call them cigarette boats. Not sure if that was technically correct, but whatever.

Pull the door panels and grease them up real nice. I replaced the regulator, motor and all in my driver side (bent up regulator somehow) and my driver side window is way faster, I assume due to clean and greased tracks but the motor may have something to do with it.

Heh, I remember seeing Don and Melony (and their newborn) in Grand Haven MI for the powerboat races. Their copter landed while we were at the marina checking the boats out. They walked past us about 15ft away.... dude is short af. Some good times had out there during that week.

I think the term cigarette boat has become synonymous for any high speed boat like that.

I believe cigarette is a specific brand. Haven’t seen one in person though.

Looking for new headlights for the RAV4 and none of the brands RockAuto sells are CAPA certified. Does anyone know if TYC or DEPO are decent options?

You should be fine with DEPO, TYC, Eagle Eye. I've had the most luck with Eagle Eye, but I'm also convinced these three sell each other's stuff in their own boxes sometimes...

Seems really common for shorter men (5'5"-5'9") to become actors. Lots of leading men at that height.

Guess I didn't get those genes. Neither for acting, nor for being shorter. More average(ish), a bit over 6ft.

Yeah, it just surprised me how short he was IRL. Some celebs take it serious and insist on the shots not showing or enhancing their lower height.
My co-worker I'm with every day is about a foot shorter than me or so. I never think about it. We both equally are adapted better to different things
I tell him it's not that special unless you like getting constant knots on your head from running into shit, not fitting in clothes/cars/confined spaces...

I’ve seen a couple “clear coat restore” serums or something of that nature, are those likely bs or did they work for any of yall that tried. i doubt they work like in the big thread abt everything tundras said the only real fix is respray but if i can save any money i would like that to be the case.

I’ve seen those, and I’ve seen vehicles up close and personal that've used one of the popular name brands when I was shopping for a truck 8-20 years ago. If it was without some side effect, or actually worked for the long haul (i.e. wasn’t a bandaid), the service would be a household name like Maaco is.

I was curious about the truck I looked at (not a Toyota) with maroon metallic paint. And when I looked at the product/service, how it worked, they suggested their product softens/reflows the original finish, almost like melting the clear into itself again, then it hardens. The paint looked OK, almost like a Maaco style paint job that hadn’t been wet sanded and polished yet.

I don’t buy it, but it’s been 8-10 years now since that truck I saw. Maybe something has changed.

That too ironic, I almost said something similar. "I would be headed NW to an expert's place to do the swap"... and cut/split/stack a few cords of wood for payment??:D
First I would strip those decals off... and swap out the front grill too (hate me :bananadead:):notsure:

But, but... Eh who am I kidding, mine was missing the decals, and the grill was about to fall off, when the emblem did fall off, on the road somewhere. I'd trade you my black grill with Lexus emblem for that grill, assuming it's not in deceptively bad shape, like mine was.

Someday I'll take my T3 grill to a customs shop and see if they can fix it. I've tried plastic weld and gorilla glue. But it always breaks a few months later. Maybe they can fiberglass it.

I'm possibly going to trim down the legs of 20250128_234705.jpg this DC TRD pro grill and use it.

I really like those style grills, with the amber lighting. Ide like to put a row of high-viz green on there too... but then ya start slipping into chicken lights, windshield visors, whip antennas, chrome garnished mud flaps... I think it can get ugly quick:rofl:

I'm not a fan of the raptor style grill lights. It was cool like in 2011, It's played out now. Like altezza taillights. Every other modded Tacoma and 4runner has Eapter grill lights now. :burp:

Edit: ah yes, we call those clearance lights. At least that's what the state of Texas safety inspection class called em.

The whips are kinda cool. I never liked the visors though.

It's snake oil, like those magic scratch removal pens.

If your clear coat is gone, it's gone. The only way to replace it is by reclearing your vehicle. Thoss serums likely only makes the paint shine giving it the look that the clear coat has returned, but it'll fade over time. For a good example, it's like the older Toyota white paint. If you've noticed, those fade drastically over time because it's a one stage paint with the clear mixed into the paint. I used to wax those faded paints all the time and it would make it shine like a brand new coat of clear coat. But it doesn't last and the customers were made aware of that.

If it sounds too good to be true, most likely it is.

Got a RockAuto notification about 1h40m ago that the 150A Sequoia alternator was in stock. Went to go buy one… sold out.

What are the amp ratings? 75-100-150?
I don't have any aux equipment atm... no audio amps, lights, compressors. Replaced mine (NAPA) a couple years ago:anonymous:
So far so good. I run into this quite often, learning about all the shit I did wrong. In hind sight I think it was just a loose connector, but I can't rewind on my stupid:mad: mistakes. I sure as hell can learn from them though.

Not sure on Sequoia. Tundra is different for the earlier models. Earlier only had 70A and 100A as an option, with a different plug from later years. More info in the "Big three" thread about the connector differences and how to repin for the newer alternator.

Later years (03+?) had options of 100A, 130A and I have this notion in my head there was a 90A option too for AC/RC. Sequoia maxed out at 150A. Sequoia is plug-and-play for later year trucks.

My factory 100A hasn't failed yet. Feel like the 130A upgrade would be plenty. 150A? Maybe if I had winch, 2-50" curved lightbars and 4000w of neighborhood destroying sub power.
