Discussed in more detail in this thread, although we have talked about it in other places on the forum since, with people swapping in various motors (LC/460/470?) into the 1GT.

I have that radio. Just make sure you're both using the same frequency and that the little arrow is set to the one you are both planning to talk on.
It has two frencies, one is for talking and listening, the other is just for listening. So you got a make sure the arrow is on the one you want to talk on.

This dual frequency was useful at Merus, because groups had to radio to the office any time they were going up or down the main drop on area, because it's super steep, long, and narrow. That way there was never traffic in a dangerous spot.
So the leader would just switch the arrow to the office frequency and radio that our group was going up/down and we'd all hear it, then switch back to talk to us.

We gave out trillions to private companies and corporations during covid. USPS receiving funds is no different than any of the others. If you feel your tax dollars fund USPS then that's fine, but I hope you feel the same way about UPS and FedEx.

My wife's company got a $350k PPP loan, and the owners were already millionaires. The next year they magically built a $750k garage and will never have to pay back the $350k.

America is a scam. USPS is a service.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
A while back we picked up a pair of Motorola T265s in prep for moving to a place with acreage. I looked at those frequencies and set ours to 14/99<-privacy number. In suburban setting I only got about half a mile, I guess we will see how it does on property and level up if need be.

I've wondered about this too. I replaced my blower motor years ago, but kept the original. I've been meaning to take measurements for it and ask the 2nd gen guys to do the same.

That’s the idea, but they don’t cover their own costs currently. They get subsidized. But so do farmers, and many other industries.

Not necessarily. Their prices rarely went up much in the past before the new millennium.

People complain about the price of stamps and then complain when they don't make a profit. :smash:

They are delivering mail to every home in the US. 6 days a week. Even the most rural podunk towns. That's expensive. It's a horrible business model but it's a service we need. I think...99% of what I get goes in the trash.

Hell no. I spent nearly 25 years in the industry, "German Engineering", at least as applied to vehicles, is a myth. Ever heard the saying "If you're going to buy a Mercedes buy two so you'll have one to drive while the other one is in the shop."? There's some truth behind that saying.

Thanks. Tried again yesterday and made sure the arrow was on the right frequency but still didn’t work. BIL asked me to try a frequency just to check if I could hear another channel which I could but still couldn’t talk or hear him. He says mine might be set to low transmit power. We’re less than a mile away from each other, he says should be able to hear each other 7-8 miles apart.
