Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s deep enough or not. I couldn’t find my freeze line.

I used to Loath drilling with a standard drill on hammer b4. I don't know what kind of voodoo frequency they figured out but that thing fuckin chooches through anything, and the isolation in the grip is the best I've ever felt.

So, in less than 24 hours shit has gone to hell north of LA with the palisades fire. How are our CA folks managing? Not sure which members are up that far, but that far north.

Ice will freeze in the hole, a couple years ago i filled it with water & pulled out a 10” thick chunk, but it didnt crack the rock. Heat has been flaking bits off. Dont know how thick the rock is, but its 3 8-10” holes drilled about 12” deep that a tree was planted in. Before i plant another tree in it, i’d like for water to be able to drain out.

Crazy fires in LA right now. No power and orders to prepare for evacuation. FAF48E19-513D-472A-81FF-AC21507AABB0.jpg
Some neighbors left without even watering down their lawns. We’ve had the Santa Ana winds the past few days, dry leaves everywhere and folks just get up n go. Damn yuppies

watered down front and side yards and half the roof so far. Gonna break into neighbors house and water theirs once I’m done with mine lol

Make sure you leave yourself enough time to get out. I saw the fire department using a bulldozer to move abandoned cars out of the way where people left them, with no keys.

I can see the advantage of owning a stucco home with clay tile roof. I forgot the style of home they’re called.

Nope. Definitely Spanish Colonial Revival from a quick check. A Cali Ranch style comes up with just ranch homes, although the Spanish Colonial would fall under it as one option I guess.

Edited my comment just before you replied. My area is definitely ranch homes that have a heavy Spanish Colonial influence.

After looking into it a little bit more, the barrel tiles are still susceptible to flying ambers getting under them although they’re safer than a typical asphalt shingle roof home. Supposedly they make flat terracotta tile roofs as well that provide better protection.

If you truly want a fireproof home, a stone castle with metal roof and moat would be ideal.

@Voss all you need are those asbestos siding shingles that were popular up until the 60s to wrap your house in for protection.

Seriously, I cringe every time I see a house being sold that still has them because nobody wants to pay the huge cost to remove them around here.

Lol oh yeah those are great. Remodeled a few houses with them in the past. Just paint them and and they look as good as new usually.

Asbestos is only bad with constant exposure and would need something to break it up to be dangerous. Old air vents that are covered in asbestos are the real dangers in peoples homes. Leaky vents constantly disrupting their asbestos covers

The briskey didnt turn out great, not to my standards. It tastes good, but doesnt have the thick smoke ring. It’ll be fine for chili, though.

Definitely not, and it doesn't help your "leaders" have no water in reservoirs. You know, for moments like this.

    FTFY.

Dry 40-55mph winds + dry plant and leaf litter everywhere = exercise in futility.

I get it, des, I'm familiar with the Santa Ana winds, the terrain there and the difficulties involved. I also live where winds and fires are a part of life.

    Be safe
