It'll relearn on it's own. This has also made me put eyes on the power steering leak you mentioned. So that's gotta get fixed too.

Quick question about offset. I think I got this right, but it never hurts to ask. My factory wheels are 17x7 with a 50mm offset, 70.5mm hub bore. The wheels I'm looking at are 18x8.5 with a 40mm offset, 73mm hub bore. SO with the wheel being 1.5" wider, but 10mm less offset, they should be fine to run with just a 2.5mm hub bore adapter, right? When does back spacing come into play, or is that another word for offset? I would ask on the Vic FB page, but they don't know shit. I've asked if they would fit before and got 0 answers.

Also, the consensus seems to be that 265/45/18 should be OK to run on an 8.5" wheel. The next size up is a 9.5" wheel, at the added cost of $260, but that may be too wide.

So the 18's are 40mm wider and the 10mm offset difference means 10mm of that width is added to the inside of the wheel, and 30mm is added to the outside? Am i right?

Emailed the folks at Fred Anderson about my skid plate I ordered a month ago. They say they never got it and they’ll check on it tomorrow.

I didn’t get the memo I need to be more proactive here. Could’ve gone on for months and they probably wouldn’t even know.

Wife’s Jeep GC is ticking. Must have a bad cam follower. I fixed one on the daughter 3.2 Pentastar in her Jeep Cherokee when I bought it. I’ve got some more new cam followers laying around here somewhere. So the fix won’t cost me anything.

I visually see the outer ring of the wheel move inwards for positive offset. And outwards for negative offset.

That's one of the reasons I'm so glad we got rid of my mom's minivan with the 3.6. It was starting to rattle on cold starts and I knew that it was going to chew a lifter/follower at some point. Glad you'll be able to get yours fixed- I'm sure that's not a small job.

My truck makes a rattle when I start it for a second tops. But only maybe 1 out of every 4 starts. It's done it for years now.

It looks like it'll take up 9mm on the inside, and push out 29mm more. I need less offset.

Willtheyfit.com is a good website with visuals to show you the wheels and tires side by side for comparison to make it easier to understand if you need.

Yeah, that may stick out too much. I'll have to measure to be sure, but that's a tad more than 2" poke on the outside.

meh, not that bad. Cliffs notes without the parts you have to remove to get to it, pull the valve cover, loosen the camshaft bearing cap bolts enough to wiggle the offending follower out, put the new one in, tighten the bolts back down, new valve cover gasket, new intake gaskets. Boom.

Hmm. That really doesn't sound too bad. I assumed the cams would need removal.

Maybe I'm just scared after dealing with replacing the rod bearings in my Fiat's engine. That was an ordeal. I try to avoid major engine work the best I can after that.

I don't buy tires less than aspect ratio 75. Low profile tires are for fashion followers.

Wider tires means lower sidewall ratio. I wanna keep it about the same diameter to keep the speedo accurate. I also would like to keep the fronts and rears the same size for rotation purposes. I could probably fit a 285/40/18 in the rear on a 10" wide wheel, but they're $717 a piece.

Saw this Dark Horse on the interstate a couple days ago and forgot about it. Not a fan of Mustangs or Fords really but they did a killer job of making this think look and sound mean as hell.

Looks better from the front but I’m not one to shoot backwards or in mirrors while driving.

If I move down to an 8" wheel and 255s, that makes it 1 3/8" wider on the outside. Might be doable.

They look good, and sound good, but $80k+ for a mustang is a hard pill to swallow.
