Thanks, both! There is a captive washer AND lock washer on this bolt. I feel pretty confident that I can add the washer stack to a plain bolt. I just didn't have enough understanding of the language like "M6x1.00" to know what to look for.

That's what I'd do. Most fasteners you'll encounter on the truck will be metric fasteners. They're sold in the M6-1.00x30 format

    M is metric thread designation
6 is the thread diameter in MM
1.00 is the thread pitch in MM
30 is the length of the bolt in MM

Thread pitch measures distance between threads. Pitch can vary depending on thread size. Thread pitch will also tell you how many threads per inch there are. A bolt with a 1.00mm pitch will have 25.4 threads per inch, and a 1.25mm pitch will have 20.32 threads per inch.

Fasteners can also be graded depending on their strength. Most stuff on the truck will be Metric Class 8.8 or less, but there's no harm in using Metric Class 10.9 (commonly referred to as Grade 8)

    Further reading: https://www.fastenermart.com/understanding-metric-fasteners.html
    Thread strength: https://www.fastenermart.com/understanding-fastener-grades-and-classes.html

O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc should have a display that sells various sizes of metric nuts and bolts in bubble packs that are metric class 10.9.

The 4 pin alternator plug for 05/06 tundra and 05-07 sequoia, in case anyone yanks the wires out of the plug like I did on mine.

5 years later and battery light is gone.

Has anyone found a garage door opener solution? Our visors are too thick for the clips to work. The holder thing doesn't work either

I've tried double sided tape but this only lasts a month or so.

It's win win. You got free, new parts.
I got your help on retainer.

I think the "truck setting" will be good for your truck. Unless you want to be a hottboi and go for something between "truck" and "rotrod", as I've read several people doing. Seems most just go with "truck" and like it. The ones that go with "hotrod" usually aren't happy with daily driving.

It might but I would have to open it every time I need to use it. We have two garage doors. Plus the cubby door isn't that easy to open.

What you think that square in the middle is?
Hint: it's where you push to push the garage door opener if ones inside

Just a thought, but why not use the garage door holder clip under the trim where you have it stuck to? I'm not sure if it would even be able to be secured under it, but it's worth a shot.

I'm aware of how it works. That's why I mentioned we have two garage doors. If I position it inside the cubby, it can only be used to press one garage door button.

Sounds like I need better double sided tape. I'm using the Gorilla brand I think. I had 3M before but ran out.

I have. I installed a Toyota battery-powered Homelink mirror. Part number is in my signature (PT374-00210), and it pops right onto any standard windshield keystone**. However, Gentex undoubtedly sells a similar battery powered unit.

Battery isn't serviceable but they supposedly has a 15 year lifespan similar to TPMS sensors, and I figure by then, I'll have finally gotten around to wiring in a proper, ACC powered mirror :D

** Some earlier model trucks used the weird Donnelly brand mirrors and would need to swap out the windshield mount

PS - you need to use "industrial strength" velcro. They sell (3M brand) it at the big box parts stores, it's what we typically used on all of our digital racks in our labs, and for tradeshows, to hold all kinds of things, including jumbo TV remotes.

You just need a small square for something like that. Trick to it is, hit the surface you're sticking it to with an alcohol wipe before installing, the adhesive will grab better. If you've ever put coatings (303, Armor All, etc.) on the plastic surface in question, you need to remove that, alcohol will do the job.

I know I'm a nerd for doing this, but I was interested in knowing if this was just a simple alcohol wipe, so I looked up the SDS for that product.

It would appear maybe it's not just basic Isopropyl alcohol. I'm going to assume the active ingredients are the bottom two with the ultra-long names in ultra-low concentrations, while the larger is filler. Given the organ damage warnings in the SDS with repeated exposure, uh ... I guess as long as you're not huffing them in a baggie, you should be OK?

Considering all of the other noxious fumes that I'm around in the body shop, I think my body doesn't mind that amount, hah. The alcohol prep wipes that we have has a disclaimer that it can cause neurological issues.....We had a guy that would clean his face with them.

I mean, that's one way to get rid of acne. If there's no living tissue, there's no pores to get clogged up!

For that industrial strength Velcro though, I've found that even lens cleaning wipes (for glasses) work fabulous in a pinch, and will allow stuff to hold for 5-10 years, even in hot or cold environments (we had both in our datacenters, hot side/cold side)
