Conveniently no frame shots. I'll be it's toast. But maybe eligible for recall.

Oof, more than that, the rotor

Rotor is about half thickness on one side versus other. I bet that felt great to break on. Did the fucking pad fall out on that side or what? WITAF?!

But beyond that, I swear this truck had a camper shell on it before. I've seen the camper shell, but not the truck. It was the exact same color, and had all the same map/topo marks on the camper shell. I recall the seller wanted outrageous money for it, relative to what the shell was.

theres a lot of 4R's like this here. $2k of "overlanding gear" not a scratch on the truck. That part boggles my mind.

I don't overland. The truck just goes to launch kayak and it still gets beat by bushes and rocks all day lol

Ok, I saw this guy selling his camper shell on FBM locally. In fact, I think I posted it as "overpriced" in the 1st Gen Camper Shell thread. Had the same paint and a bunch of campy-ish stickers on it. It's also possible I didn't post it because it was overpriced. But I swear I did.

Well shit... @Mr.bee called it. My noise is the rear pinion bearing. So it needs to be rebuilt and the front diff leak allowed for water and mud to mix in and there's a lot of shavings... So it needs to be rebuilt. Ugh.

I remember you posting the videos. I remember commenting on the videos. I don't remember what I said it was. I remember it was a howling, like a banshee with a faint hint of wubwub, and I swore I said it was a bearing, but don't remember which bearing(s) I called the culprit.

I had the front bearings replaced a few months ago when I got the spindle gussets welded on.
The rears will be done once the dogs are fixed. Since the axles have to come out anywyas, so no better time to do em.

Man I knew this was going to be costly, but I wasn't ready for both diffs needing a rebuild. I'm really hoping I don't need new ring and pinions. Plus I still want to get the other trucks rear diff regeared and new LSD swapped in for the OEM LSD.

Now I wish I had taken it back to Teq, since they installed the gears like 2 or 3 years ago. Not sure if they'd warranty it at this point or not though. Teq is also who installed the previous seal after a previous leak after the regear... Fuck

    Quick follow-up on this.

I went down a rabbithole on this one. I was shocked Airaid doesn't make a kit anymore, like, what manuf'er in their right mind would totally change their manufacturing/parts on a dime like that?

Well, it would appear they didn't. I just dug up the instructions for the Synthaflow Jr. kit for my '05-'06 (p/n 511-781), and the current CAI kit they make for the '05-'06 (510-, 511-, 512-, and 513-173).

Lo and behold, they are all using the same intake tube part number (KIT981T). So it would appear that, if you could find that part alone, "KIT981T", then you could effectively replicate the Synthaflow Jr. kit. It's easy enough to find the NPT barb, silicone sleeves, and hose clamps.

Anyway, can't post facts without proof, so ... if anyone figures out how to just get the stuff in the "Jr." kit, or just the intake tube, holler!

Another interesting tidbit to share while hunting that intake tube part number down, suggesting you can still order the parts directly from Airaid, and the misc parts run about $120...

The square boxy buildout on the OEM intake is just a charcoal filter or something, right? I haven't torn into it.

If recall @empty_lord previously mentioned that the full Airaid CIA kit uses the same exact tube as the Jr. kit. Which is weird they wouldn't still offer the Jr. kit. Did you find anything about the comparable K&N tube?

Yes, look at my next reply after the one you quoted. The parts list you'll need to order is in the instruction screencaps also. See the part numbers in the "packing list" section of those images, and compare to what that LC/470 reply I screencapped.

The airaid and k&n are not the same tube. The MAF on the k&n is on the tube and the MAF spot on the airbox is sealed vs the Airaid that retained the OEM MAF location on the air box.

Also the Airaid comes with a dry high flow filter vs k&n being an oiled filter.

My first time ever hearing about synthaflow.

It looks like K&N has three kits (for my 2006):
    • One with a filter which is MSRP $199, just an elbow, clamps, filter, you relocate the MAF, and keep the OEM airbox (but block off)
    • One with a plastic tube, shield, replaces the OEM airbox
    • One with an alloy tube, shield, replaces the OEM airbox
I'm actually interested in that 1st kit, I don't want to lose my airbox personally, but I'd appreciate the higher/smoother airflow, and I'd continue using OEM air filter.

Here's that parts list, and you can get pricing and part numbers using my link above, but confirm it'll fit in your pre-2005 before buying anything, and NOTE it says it's not designed for vehicles with a body lift?!!? and I wonder if that's due to loom/harness lengths or airbox postion, thankfully I'd never lift my body:

Here's the deal the 'chlorine' smell is not one particular thing. It's the byproduct of the chlorine oxidizing whatever contaminant is in the water and releasing chloramines.

You could leave the lids off and both would smell like nothing in about 30 minutes.
