I'm also down to have this done if/when it comes down to it. Probably pay my bud Brandin at 4Lo Fab in New Braunfels to do the job, or my bud @the_white_shadow who's a little closer.

Been stuck in orlando for a week due to work, wont be home for another 2 weeks still. Sucks here. So humid, and Im missing the start of the good wrenching weather in Utah. I did finish painting the frame before I left, Im itching to get the shocks put in and the bed back on so I can finally drive my damn truck! Alas.

I had a buddy I had only known on instagram fly in to look at a couple 1g's. Lucky for him I came out to say hi and stopped him from buying tundra 1 (frame rotted I could see the ground through the frame in the engine bay) and tundra 2 (diamond plate hidden all over the frame for frame repair). This would be in the same realm of bad. It's crazy guys will do crap like this and still think their truck is worth money at all lol.

To proudly display those repairs speaks volumes though, and yet again I have to lower my expectations on the general adult public for level of common sense and knowledge. But a dude who disigns silicon chips would prob say the same about me .
2nd gens have frame issues as well? I am ignorant and unstudied on them.

They get rusty, but nothing near like these early 2000’s trucks.

Just did a little over 1700 miles from Tempe, AZ to Grand Junction, CO. From Grand Junction to Denver, from Denver to Durango, CO, and then back to Tempe. The Tundra ran and performed flawlessly. However, I lost my "D" light on the dashboard. LED's on the way. I also realized that the 21 year old springs are done. Probably ordering some new HD springs or airbags for the rear. Haven't decided yet. Definitely some new 2885s for the front. Managed to get between 15-18 MPG. It really depended on how many passes I was pulling, all with A/C on and at 75-80 MPH. Not too bad, and was pleasantly surprised at getting 18 MPG on two different fill ups.

Your state has the worst roads I've ever seen. Absolutely horrible. They are not spending enough on road maintenance.

And I haven't seen a single Best Gen. Few have survived the salt.

I'd do some more research on the 2885, they tend to give more lift than advertised. What struts are you looking at?

    Spot on.
Keep in mind you are saying that at a time when TONS of road repairs/construction has already been done :rofl:
You aint seen shit (maybe you have?) till early spring after endless freeze/thaws have torn shit up.
We have a standing joke around here. Michigan has only 2 seasons, Winter and Road Construction.

Been scrolling playing catch up here. What's the big deal with 35s? Like what's the advantage over 33s?

Bigger tires are how you increase frame and differential ground clearance.

Ground clearance, more surface area for traction, on trail you it's more comfortable aired down, lowered MPG, more rubbing, more headache, more scene points. Fills the wheel wells really nice and it looks damn good though. Everyone's chasing the biggest tire. Late model Toyotas are all chasing 37's. From experience the jump from the 33/34 to 35 is not nearly as noticeable as 35 to 37 when we're talking about benefits. @The Black Mamba has some tall 285's I think and looks proportionally great. Plus the added sidewall helps a ton since we have zero front travel lol.

Your truck looks like a ramp Evel Knievel might use to jump a bus or two.
