If the compressor pump is going out, it could be not freely rotating and cause too much resistance for the belt to turn it creating the slipping squealing belt. New clutch and bearing wouldn't fix that. You can test the clutch operation of yours to see if its working before pulling the trigger on those parts vs. a new compressor.

I'm potentially going to be the dissenting voice of reason on this one, but ...

If you're still on the original compressor, consider the possibility you're at EOL for that thing, and count your lucky stars it lasted this long.

Now is probably the time to go into a HVAC specialty shop and have the A/C system vacuumed, seals refreshed, compressor and clutch overhauled, drier valve replaced, etc. hell maybe even the condensor. Everything but the evap coil, since it's such a bitch to get to.

It's entirely possible you just have a slow leak, and have lost enough that it's slowly been gagging the compressor, and now coolant level is so low, the pressure switch won't let the clutch engage (you can bypass it to check, most likely, at risk of damaging the compressor).

But Breau. You live in TX. It's hot as fuck and we're in the middle-late summer. I know you just spent some coinola on the Vic so it'll potentially hurt, but roll up into an HVAC specialty shop and have em look.

    Check freon level. Will do.

    Check clutch engagement. Will do.

I should mention, this is on the Vic. It has a new compressor on it, not sure about the clutch. Ironman's AC I'm not sure about. It works OK, just doesn't move a lot of air.

And yes, it's hot as all get out. I took the car out Saturday for my B-day to show my homies. I mean, they were with me to go get it, but hadn't seen it since. It was 102 when we left the xcape room and 104 when we left Kabuki. By the time I got home I was starting to get heat exhaustion. Not sweating has its downfalls. But, the car will put down some nice 11's. So that's always fun.

Got it. Happy belated. Definitely, check high and low pressure side before you go overboard. You know anyone with gauges?

If pressures are within spec of whatever they should be on that Vic, maybe it's the clutch? With the engine off, and I think this is universal, you can apply 12v to the clutch terminals in correct polarity and it should jump/engage. If it doesn't, the clutch is probably fucked.

I don't know if this is allowed but if not I apologize. I saw this on Facebook Marketplace; Set of Toyota TRD Ivan Stewart PTR20-34070 aluminum wheels 16x8 (not mine) $800 located in Emmaus PA. Come with center caps and lugnuts. Tires not included. 456164676_489633833933095_35129092582542_131c1fb87f00882f64bcc834756ed73c4377090d.jpg

Think LPS will rent guages and vacuum pump for free. If clutch failed but freon still charged pressures can equalize so could measure about 100 on each side. In that case indicating no leak, I next check fuse(s), then relay(s) and if all good then 12v to clutch.

Just got back from the dermatologist. Moles are OK, but they cut one off and sent it to the lab. So I should be good. Fingers crossed!

Last time they did that to me, they said, "Came back precancerous, come back in a year". But just like with that weird cyst mass on my tonsil, after the tonsillectomy pathology came back similarly, nobody bothers to explain what "precancerous" means in the context of a biopsy like that.

Sending positive juju your way, Breauski.

I'm discovering I'm out of touch with the price of things. is 3 for 10$ a good price for tacos? I think of tacos as a 2 or 3 for $1.
...but maybe your tacos have more in them than a broken shell, some browned hamburger, a little shredded cheese & if unavoidable, a splash of lettuce.

I've got the light on as well. I replaced one 7? years ago when I bought the car. I replaced one about a year ago, one 2 months ago, & now the light is back on.

I'd encourage to replace them all. Life is too short to keep dealing with something like this. Their battery is a wear item.

You’re not alone. Last time I ate a taco it was at an expensive Mexican restaurant and before then, I haven’t eaten at someplace like Taco Bell since 1999. :anonymous:

I'll say why buy a $100 cloning tech when a $400 scanning tool will read the programmed sensor ID's, program in new ones, allow you to set the high/low pressure & temperature parameters? Also an entry level professional scanner let's you clone keys, comes with updates, lets you dive deep into specific vehicle menus.....
If you're going to fix things yourself - a good scanner is priceless, if you're farming out work - it's good to know what's actually going on before you drop it off.

You use a scanner/code reader once in a blue moon on an 18 year old truck?
I know, coding keys, replacing tire sensors.... But a reader that understands your vehicle specific codes plus all those random uses that combined result in an ongoing need on an 18- 24 year old truck, plus - it works on the other vehicles too.

Nah, but the MX+ does almost all that stuff. Just not scanning of the sensors.

Great deal in TN for anyone with an '05-'06. @jpink this may be up your alley, although it's a bit of a trek.

I guess the new edge mustang page on FB was the way to go. I've gotten several responses in the last 2 hours, but a lot of parts cannon diagnoses as well. Hell, a few people said to pull codes. I would if I could! Someone also replied in Spanish so I responded "que?" It's the best I could do.

It sucks even worse that you can't replace the batteries in them. My TPMS light has been on in the Tundra since I bought it, but I'm not paying those prices to replace them.

Hey, did you ever get a response to this? I'm not seeing it. But I just now saw a 2005 cluster and realized it's way fuckin' better than the Tundra and was wondering the same. I'm searching right now to see if it's been answered, so maybe I'll reply back with more info.

I think he's off adventuring, living mobile with the family.

It'd be interesting to know if the plug-ins match.

If they do, I'd next wonder if the gas sender, oil sender, and ammeter are compatible, those are the ones I'd be worried about.

Last but not least, I'd also wonder if 4HI/4LO would work. I know the Sequoias have a different front diff and can run alltime AWD versus our Tundra, I'm not sure how that signal is passed on.

I try my damnedest not to tag him on things because I know he has tons of shit going on, but I wonder what input @empty_lord may have here. He's the retrofit king of my world.
