We’re gonna gravel this spot and put pavers down for the wheels. Not gonna permanent pave it though. Eventually building a shop and this area will revert to lawn.

Saab did that, can't recall if it was later 9-5's or if it was an Aero feature in the 9-3's too. Either way they did it factory at some point

I built a custom enclosure in a friends Thunderbird using the spare tire well as airspace. We ditched the spare tire. Didn’t have fancy sound deadening mat back then so we used modeling clay to add weight to the spare tire pan and prevent rattles. Built essentially a large baffle board to cover the spare tire opening and sealed it to the trunk floor. Put a single 15” Kicker comp in a recessed mount in it and added a speaker grille since it was in the floor. Carpeted the board to match and it look like it came that way factory. Had 2.2cuft of airspace or so which was perfect. Hit hard. Took up no trunk space.

Then he got a flat tire one day, in the middle of nowhere, without a spare.

No. We spent an hour going back over it and couldn't figure it out. In some videos online of other bikes the flywheel comes off fairly easy. I'm going to try and find the service tool today or tomorrow.

Do you get any extra mechanical distortion when cranked from it not being mounted to the vehicle’s structure?

Or is the spare secured to the body of the vehicle?

We were ahead of our time. Little did we know that few cars in 2024 would come with an actual spare tire.

This will be Honda #6 for me, I think. (Civics in 87 sedan, 95 sedan, 92 HB, '03 Accord, '03 Acura RSX). We'll see if it was a good deal or not. Hoping the clunk is in fact the front struts. I'd like to find new struts to lower an inch that don't ride stiff as shit and are similar cost to QuickStruts.

Spares are typically secured, mounted to a boss welded to the trunk floor in many cars. There is a compatibility list for these, which excludes any car that doesn't have a mount.

Speakers are like humans. They have a huge hole through the middle (with us, the hole is your intestines, one entry, one exit, hollow in between). In fact, it's necessary to have that hole on the back side and middle of voicecoil to help with heat reduction, keep the driver cool in some applications. In some applications, you'll see magnet up into the voice coil area, but on a number of speakers, if you pop the dust cap off, you'll see straight through the speaker.

This specific CR-V gen (2007-2011) apparently had an OEM one that went under the seat but sounded like shit.

There was a shop in Lady Lake FL that always competed in events our shop competed in bitd. I think they had a Grand Am. I don't remember what hardware they were running (Crunch? Earthquake?) but they had one 15 or one 18 in the spare tire well and absolutely obliterated with it. Underglass. I'll never forget their name or where they were. That shop car was sweeeeeeet.

I think it's uncommon, which makes it cool.
    Do it.

But yeah, Jack says make it functional and I'm inclined to agree.

Oh yeah the cardboard tube is just a visual reference. There's huge holes in my muffler so the point is an actual functional tailpipe

    True.
This would just be for cool points and complete overkill for managing our acre. Pecans are always self pruning and you gotta mend fences after hurricanes.
Could use it to pull the chicken coop from spot to to spot each week and be the riding mower's rescue vehicle lol

33-34 currently. But the EXPs in 275/70r17 only come in load E, which are significantly stiffer.

Look, if you really want a deal, maybe I can meet you in the middle for a swap? $200/tire? Or maybe you have a better deal lined up, I dunno.

I'm [tentatively] not a fan. Again, I love the look but they ride pretty harsh. Road noise is about par for the course, it's how stiff they are that pisses me off.
