Welp, it's too hot to sleep without power. So I think I'll go outside and try to get a fire burning. Going to be tough because it keeps raining off and on since the hurricane. But I have various combustibles to try.
    Pyro's gonna pyro.

I saw this at the gym the other day. I assume it's a wrap? I hate to admit that I don't hate it....:crapstorm:

Dealers are asking for $2500 over MSRP for the 2024s. Copper, though?

Yeah and our Kohler backup generator shit the bed about 32 hours ago.
    It's been miserable.
At least I have work tonight and their power is up and running. Too bad I can't sleep at work.
It's really going to suck if we don't have power by the time I get off tomorrow morning, since I'll be off for 4 days. I'll be praying for some OT opportunities to pop up, if that's the case. But I'm down to my last clean uniform for tonight.

Yeah that sucks. When we bought our house in Florida 7/2013 the previous owner had the power turned off before closing. It was 90 inside the house while we moved in. Good times. Thankfully it was only for a few days.

Yeah. The electrician got it to start a few times with some new parts, but it won't run. So he's going to warranty it. No clue how long that'll take before he replaces the motor.

Is this the longest time it’s been running or is the breakdown due to age?

We got it right after the big freeze that happened across TX like 2-3 years ago. It's still under warranty.
Definitely the longest it has been running. It either kicked on Sunday night or early Monday morning. We stopped it each day to check the oil as per the manual. But the electrician said it needed to stop and cool for an hour every 24 hours. The manual didn't say that. We only stopped it like 10-15 mins each day when we checked the oil.
I wish we had gotten the water cooled model instead of the stupid air cooled one.

Not only that, but now you've done the work once already, it'll be easier the 2nd time around.

i was looking hard at those kohlers. But i dont know if i wanna run propane or diesel. If i run propane, i can have a gas stove again, if i run diesel, i'll need a diesel project to keep the fuel fresh. Like a hot bulb low rpm stationary engine. Which i can run a generator on...

does my tundra need a tuned 1kd or a 15b?

Yeah, I sort of figured it was a similar situation to what I was thinking. Backup generators in general aren’t designed to run 24/7 indefinitely.

did the engine burn up? Must have the 'extra quiet' housing. Any idea how much juice it was pulling at any given time?

On the event you pull your 2uz, I want to see Chip build it out, the way he described to me, for racing.

Seeing how your into rocket stoves, I could see you building a passive heated cooling tower to generate a breeze via the Bernoulli effect.

Easier but way more expensive. A lot of parts I bought in 2019 have gone up 30-50%. Control arms, shocks, sliders etc. I doubt I'd go all out the 2nd time with bumper and slider.

Straight pipe it. And we'll bend some of the housing fins to help it dissipate heat better. Ir add a couple computer fans to the housing.

Yeah I was thinking it needed an intake fan and an exhaust fan, since it has to be air cooled.
Dad said it has a fan on the intake side but I can't see it.

Exhaust fan for the housing. The engine will pump its own air.

We looked at a house this week that had a Generac Guardian. From what I can tell, these are pretty solid? We are not buying the house but I thought it would be cool to have a generator.

I didn't mean for the engine intake, just the intake side of the box to help with cooling. Have one fan push fresh air in and the other pull exhaust out, for a nice scavenging effect. Should make it cooler and maybe a little more efficient. At least that how it works in my head...

those aint ordinary b&s. Generac builds their own in wisconsin, and are underrated for longevity. But it takes generac forever to make their way out here for repairs. A couple neighbors, maybe 4-5 have gotten the run around from their customer service. I fixed one by resetting the breaker, and another had overheated because of grassclippings. The other ones i know of have been from the neighborhood fb, but i wasnt here, or someone else got em fixed up.

I'm going to try. I'm too attached to it at this point. But if I buy a 2nd vehicle I'd prefer something a little newer. I'm pretty cheap though so that might not happen.

Are you considering making a change? Don't like the ride?
