The thing about CDK having been hijacked is not so much dealerships not being able to operate, it’s the customer data that was leaked. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses. That's just on the service side. Social Security numbers, employment information and banking information on the sales and finance side. All compromised.

It's going to affect a lot of peoples paychecks if it's not back up soon. CDK is also used for flagging labor hours and for getting employees paid. If nothing can be flagged or logged then.......its a problem. I'm sure that some companies will figure out ways to get people paid if it turns into a longer issue, but we're only 3 days in and it's pretty damned chaotic with what we're dealing with now. We can't even open any new repair orders.

 

I run the tech report every Monday, so I know what my techs have averaged. My plan is gathering an average for each one from the last 4 weeks and pay them that average. Once I have CDK access, I can then update the report to see if I owe any one money or if I need to back flag.

 

In healthcare, we keep the old paper charts in case something like this happens. No one has a clue how to use them though. Should be an annual training just in case.
