That would be awesome but I know it's unlikely the AZ/CA crew would drive that far.

I still think Moab should be our next spot. That or the San Juan mountains.

I've been thinking about it. If we get a weekend where it's not hot as the devils anus, I'd like to go take a look around and talk to the staff about a large group. May have to just suck it up and do it.

This is the way @Voss. It would be "easy" for me to tag a moderator into here but, well, we know that's not always a great idea for all the reasons. Things've been going well in here lately but, you know.

If you post a thread somewhere else anywhere else on the forum, you'd get interest, we'd bump it for ya', and I'd be happy to invite a moderator to add a new forum section, starting with that thread.

Or I, or another homie, could start your thread if you need me to but, ultimately, you'd be the guy that needs to say how long the trip will be, starting where, starting when, and what not. And, in case you haven't thought of this, there's a chance you'll get waaaaaaay more trucks than you have in mind.

That used to happen when we'd plan day trips in SoCal-- maybe 8 trucks would commit online, and more than 25 would show up. Planning that's done on an unrestricted public forum can be its own kinda crazy.

I’ll start a thread for San Juan Mountains as 1st Gen getaway. Love for all but as you said, having a lot of people in one location isn’t really ideal.

Same. Thank god we bought the drug rug ponchos while we were in Silverton. Came a storm with winds and hail and low temps in the open train car on the way back to Durango. It was awesome.

How Connecticut Became the “Nutmeg State”
    During the 18th and 19th centuries, several associations between the state and the spice emerged. Early sailors would bring the valuable seed back on their foreign voyages;
Why is Connecticut Called the “Nutmeg State”? (mentalfloss.com)

    Carpetbagger
Since the end of the Reconstruction era, the term has been used to denote people who move into a new area for purely economic or political reasons despite not having ties to that place.

The term carpetbagger, used exclusively as a pejorative term, originated from the carpet bag, a form of cheap luggage, made from carpet fabric, which many of the newcomers carried. The term came to be associated with opportunism and exploitation by outsiders. It is now used in the United States to refer to a parachute candidate, that is, an outsider who runs for public office in an area without having lived there for more than a short time, or without having other significant community ties.
For example, former Arkansas First Lady Hillary Clinton was attacked by opponents as carpetbagging because she never resided in New York State or participated in the state's politics before the 2000 Senate race.

As a pre-Texan driving an off-brand Tundra, every time I see rusty hardware on a southern truck it confuses me.
The promise Yankee auto enthusiasts are raised on is a complete & absolute absence of rust anyplace south of Maryland.
Soon y'all are going to tell me that fairness & the American dream are also untruths.

Life was so much simpler when I was young, invincible & knew everything.

Have you considered a mixed-use property?
Personally, I'd try to buy a closed service station & add an apartment to it. A 2 lift garage would be just about right with lots of cement for a yard & maybe some random pots of fleurs for that homie touch. Probably comes with 2 bathrooms, no shower & 2 big tanks you have to remove from underground.

Humidity makes surface rust. It's mostly dusty not crusty nor cancerous. It's benign AF.

All this Dakota talk has me sad. I miss mine. My first truck and my first vehicle I ever purchased on my own. It was a great little truck while I had it. Never gave me any trouble. Green 4x4 regular cab with the 5.2 V8. Dammit, I miss it.

That tail gate is not original to the truck. That's the tailgate that nick got me for crackie.

Crackie still has the original V6 tailgate. I'm keeping that

    No kidding. I had a 92, 93, and a 99.

The 93 was one of my favorite trucks.

Funny you should say that, while I was watching a train roll by Monday I thought how Ide just like to hop on and GTFO.... anywhere. Then I thought, I wonder if anyone here has jumped a train before, HOBO style.
Is that what you did? Or was it a legit trip?
