Jesus. How high was your friend? Seems like a glaring issue.

Just weld in some flat bar. It'll be fine. Drill holes to match your spindles.

I've got a gussets that came with the sliders tho. They aren't beefy enough for speed holes.

weld them in....lol they're not "needed" but they add some very nice structural integrity for larger friends.

Yeah that's what I'm saying I need Frank for. I don't know how to weld nor do I own a welder. I imagine they'd be much easier to weld in once the body lift is installed.

I'm looking forward to the sliders being their current height, so once the BL goes on and the 35's finally happen some day, I'll still have a decent step. I don't mind an inch gap at all. My vanity is practically non existent. Function over form. Not to say form isn't also important.

As someone who went through the 4955 Navy Advanced Nuclear weld program I fully understand why reactor systems are on there. I am/ was certed for the coolant and high pressure discharge sides only. The feed/ hot side that's a whole nother world of tolerances, shit I want no part of. 0.01" to 0.001" like fuck that shit.

Not sure the neighbors would like that cul-de-sac thing. Pretty sure I'd get a "strongly worded" letter from the HOA lmfao

My cousin was a machinist at a nuke plant, he built all kinds of cool shit. Not sure of his certs, but he retired from there and then got subcontracted back out there for specialty work. He also patented some fancy blast furnace door for NG fired plants. It was pretty cool to live with him while I was doing reefer school.

He helped me do a bunch of cool stuff to a 300 inline 6cyl on a 85 150. 4bbl carb, headers, custom 3” exhaust.

he is a gear head foremost, tricked out a 2stroke golf cart with some head clearance, would smoke the 4 strokes until the clutch ran out.

    Thats some cool shit!
The industrial/repair side of welding doesn't really get my rocks off. Im really spoiled and I mostly only weld stuff I designed.

The closest I ever got to that type of stuff was a couple thousand feet of 4" .250 wall for a cattle feed micronutrient plant. Fun for a change, but a mind numbingly boring 6 weeks. I'd show up in the morning and fit 100' or so and then spend the afternoon welding out those 5-8 welds, and repeat mon-sat. Also it was July in a non insulated metal building. Big nope anytime those guys call me these days :D

Whatever you got going on, it’s always good when you can turn down work. I’m not on your level at all, but I only take certain side jobs. Good references are the shit!!!! I hate @SPARKIES but this one is always legit and sends me good work.

I also have a great trade out relationship with another buddy who can actually weld and do some other cool shit too, so it’s nice having options

I spent many years underbidding my skillset and trying to land every opportunity that crossed my path. When I started increasing my quotes I realised that I was working less and making more. A more open schedule has lead to falling into some really cool projects.

It also helps that I only need about 12k a year to live a happy fulfilled life
