I like what you did there but as a retiree Memorial Day is for the fallen, those who have died abroad or while in service. It is a day in memoriam of those who signed and cashed that blank check.

Veterans Day is for the fuck faces who didn't get to Valhalla via the glorious way. We are doomed to a life of mediocrity boredom and no glorious death.

There is no glory in war—only good men dying terrible deaths". - Colonel Harold G. Moore, yes from the Mel Gibson movie

Also, like to pass a nugget of knowledge onto everybody who hasn't served or isn't related to somebody who does serve in the military. When you say thank you for your service to us legitimately we do not have a response to give you it is one of the most awkward things for us to hear because we have no rebut to what you're saying. We can't say thank you for thanking me cuz that's pompous and arrogant and we can't say you're welcome because that's also in the same vein of arrogance. Just know when you say that to somebody we don't have a good response for you. The hardest part of working with the recruiters when I did work with recruiters was when we'd go out in our uniform and people would stop us and thank us and we did not know how to respond.

I've heard "you're welcome" and "no problem" and "my pleasure" plenty of times in response.

I mean I've said those things as well, but we have no real answers to give. It's just an awkward thing to tackle verbally is all. It also catches a lot of us off guard these days in our current country's climate

Silver City? I drove down from the Portland-ish area down to Silver City a couple years ago to buy a KTM. It was a 3400 mile whirlwind road trip to buy two dirtbikes (1 in vegas, 1 in SC), dirtbike parts, and drop off dirtbike parts.

This explains the awkward responses I’ve experienced when thanking those who’ve served. From family, friends or strangers. Now that I’m older it’s just another thing about govt that pisses me off, sending patriotic young men to fight other young men in foreign lands.

I got no problems going and fighting a war that concerns us, as in, direct defense of the nation and its people. What I do have a problem with is being whored out to line the pockets of the corrupt who use us as world deterrent and police force. Because other countries are to weak to fight their own wars. That's what I have problem with.

I have no idea how old mine is, just that it was originally human powered with the foot plate at the bottom and at some point somebody rigged up and electric motor with a belt drive. I have never attempted to use it.

Absolutely and as Eisenhower said, for profit & the military industrial complex. Had a friend come back from Iraq broken. Another friend come back a robot who I recently got into an argument with cause the dude literally said he’d open fire on citizens if ordered to. Cousin who came back a different man. I didn’t serve but back then something as simple as asthma got you disqualified from service.

I get that feeling when I balance my checkbook once a year. Unfortunately I gave that up 10 years ago. Now I just glance at the statements to make sure nothing is odd.

Looks like it’s missing parts. That’s what’s great about Singer, you can always find parts. Not sure about a “domestic”.
