I’m not talking about either though. When you’re in a zone, you’re in a zone. Same thing happens to me in any demanding activity I’m in. Pack mentality plays into it a lot also with unified team sports, whether you’re rowing or cycling. It’s just a different thing than one-man riding. One-man riding there’s no excuse for this shit, you’re just an asshole!

Your risk of getting hit on a sidewalk is actually higher, if not doubled, over riding in the street. Drivers typically don’t expect or look for anything going faster than walking speed in sidewalks. I don’t think a lot of people who bitch about cyclists using the road understand the odds are against people who choose to ride in the sidewalk, and honestly it’s not feasible when sidewalks in plenty of cities aren’t wide enough to accommodate a bike and a wheelchair.

    upload_2024-5-13_9-23-44.png
That’s cool and all, but it’s illegal to ride on the sidewalk here, because law is shaped around real-world statistics and not the made-up bullshit stats a car-minded society thinks it should be to make their commute easier.

We have the same law here but it's not enforced against college students in Boston anyway.

That's gotta be a riot. My buddy blew a volleyball sized hole in his intake with a 75 shot of nitrous. You shouldn't hit that button when accelerating from a dead stop. Be like Brian.

What has two butts and kills people? An assassin.

Yeah, it's not enforced here either, historically. But enforcement nearly started with the influx of motorized scooters, and I think that may be what tips it over the edge. But I still suspect LEOs would enforce it against motorized 2-wheel devices and leave the non-motorized ones alone.

Motors will be the tipping point that carry it over the edge, and are creating issues with laws in our area. We have a ton of pedestrian paths, including the Beltline, which started construction before motorized scooters (and now e-bikes) hit the scene. And this is creating a lot of contention, because now pedestrians, who were supposed to have these paths to get away from motor vehicles, are having to worry about motorized vehicles plowing them down on a ped path. At some point, laws are going to need to adapt, OR they need to re-build ped paths to include motor trails alongside, and find some way to enforce. It's a bitch.

But in general, it's significantly safer to bike on the shoulder/road/bike lane than the sidewalk, motorized vehicles of all wheel flavors and speeds belong in the road, not on pedestrian paths, and bikes only belong on ped paths when the path is wide enough to support at least one bike and one wheelchair AND there's no risk of being side-swiped by vehicular traffic.

Even if we could get to that point, everyone knows there'll be some entitled asshole individual on a bike who thinks they're above/outside the law, and some asshole in a vehicle who the law offends due to their ignorance of the real-world statistics that led to the law being created and how that conflicts with their vision of the perfect driving/commuting experience.

I'd just be happy if we could keep ATVs off the ped paths, stuff like this happens around me in Atlanta also (this is in New Haven CT), unfortunately ATV the riders don't get severly injured often enough. This officer probably saved the lives of an infant, children and several adults he just passed here.

These Kirkland bfast sammies are actually not too bad and taste way better than any of the Jimmy Dean or similar. About 1/3 the cholesterol, calories aren't outrageous. Could do way better on saturated fat, and a little better on sodium but ....
    https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-breakfast-sandwich,-4.82-oz,-8-count.product.4000214872.html

My guess is, your sandwich is high cholesterol because it has way more egg yolk in it.

I'd be more concerned about the saturated fat and sodium. Dietary cholesterol isn't as bad as once thought but it's generally high in foods with high saturated fat content.

Eggs are high in cholesterol but lower in saturated fat, it would take eating 5 to match the saturated fat content if that sandwich.

I generally try to cut out most of the yolk as possible before eating it but the sausage and cheese certainly don’t help.

The egg is the best part though and tastes 100 times better than anything a fast food chain can produce since it’s real and fried up that morning.

I'm calling bullshit on this. Do they realize that prob 20% of them are popping bottles/rockin jays/AND face fucking their phones? You all have seen it... vehicles wandering all over the fucking road... and they want you 3-5 ft away from them??? No thanks. I'll stay on the sidewalk, hit the grass for pedestrians, and certainly anyone in a wheelchair. And control the blind drives/alleys/and stupid shit at intersections by not being a dumbfuck. At least sometimes I have parked cars/trees as a buffer.... and a few more moments to react if something goes sideways.
Cities PROMOTE electric bikes and scooters. And where do they ride those? On the sidewalks primarily.
Cops aren't doing shit to enforce anything around here. You can drive whatever you want in the streets, at any speed, run red lights, no need for plates, steamroll a jay....
They aren't rolling unless it's a call they HAVE to answer.
Unfortunately the vast majority of the bikers I see and encounter appear to be cocky inconsiderate a-holes, or straight trippin oblivious to the world around them.
All my opinion and what I see. Not Flippin out, pretty calm writing this.

Plus there are the A-hole drivers who like to see how close they can come to clipping you just to freak you out. Not so fun when they're passing you doing 40 mph.

i see em on hill country 2 lane roads. Come over a hill or through a blind corner & a pack of 4-10 doing 1/4 the speed limit. No shoulders, & long stretches of double yellow. Some major pucker happenin, because i might be going double the limit.

Really itching to be done with school.

Already got my first project for the summer lined up: I’m removing probably 500 square feet of grass in my yard and seeding the whole area with native wildflowers.

Two summers ago I planted a mix of wildflower seeds in this garden bed, (on the left, next to garage) which was originally a sandbox for my brothers and I to play in:
    IMG_4572.jpg

And after just two summers I was astounded by the results. I recently decided to do the same thing to an area of the yard that was previously a vegetable garden, but had been sitting under heavy tarps for the past three years, but we ended up deciding to remove nearly 1/4 of our total lawn area and create a massive “micro prairie” made entirely of native grasses and wildflowers.

    IMG_1697.jpg
    IMG_1549.jpg

I’m pumped. Really really excited. I’m going to seed some Big Bluestem close to the fence, as it will grow to be 8’ tall and hopefully hide the vinyl fence a bit. After years of making this property more and more maintenance-intensive, I’m so excited to be making huge improvements while reducing required effort.

The reason I bring this up- I’m going to be moving a shit ton of old sod. Do you guys think it’s worth renting a trailer? I’m not sure if the leafs on my truck can handle a whole lot anymore. It sags a surprising amount when I put three or four buddies in the back when we all need to go somewhere on campus. (which is legal in Wisconsin if you’re 16+ and seated)

Funny story, we're about to replace a panel in a masonry wall. I'm going to have to open the entire wall to do it. I'll make that hole look tiny. My cuts are going to be straight though...

SK600+dump trailer and be done in one afternoon. Probably looking at $500-$700 in my area for that rental package, worth every penny in my opinion.

Mini skids are F'n awesome. I've used both the Toro and Vermeer ones at the landscaping company I work for, fantastic little machines. I'm hoping to be able to do it fairly quickly with a sod cutter that I'm borrowing from a friend. I looked at renting one but that would triple the total cost. My biggest concern is being able to move all of the old sod efficiently.
