It should be legal to run them the fuck over. And if they're wearing that stupid ass spandex shit, you should be allowed to back up and run over them again to ensure the job is complete.

I’m sure the cyclists on the forum think you’re a really cool guy talking shit blanketly as such like that about people in their hobby/sport, tough guy.

It’s easy enough to not be a dick, we should all try it sometime. I’m not exempt from the suggestion. Read back over what you wrote, though. And think about how that may sound to some.

Says the non-spandex warrior known to ride a bike sometimes.

(Edit: I know JakeJake rides also, not in spandex also… but enough bad shit happens to cyclists who aren’t fucking with anyone, and has happened recently in Texas. They put up with a LOT of shit because attitudes like this. I’ve been run off the road twice and I don’t even ride like that!)

I'm not sure how much of being a dick it is when I want to run them over. A lot of the people who ride bicycles on the road have zero consideration for their situational surroundings they failed to yield to the right of the lane and then they get mad at you anytime you come with in five car lengths of them. Now you tell me does the person driving the car who just trying to get from point A to point b sound like a dick here or does it sound like the people "enjoying their hobby" who are being the dicks?

I was responding to a post about them being assholes on the road. I've seen plenty of post talking shit about people being an asshole on the road in a car or on a motorcycle. An asshole is an asshole regardless of the mode of transportation they choose, and often the cyclist, as stated by the person I quoted, are prime examples of asshole road users who feel as if they are better than everybody else on said roadway.

Nice! Hey, there’s the guy I wanted to see.

Given you have a legit 1st Gen BBK on your truck, what’s the big deal that separated the BBK* from standard 13WL? Larger piston size? BBK is still only 4 pistons right?

And all I’m saying is, someone young, stupid, and impressionable, especially if they agree with you on other stuff and/or look up to you can see language as such and think, “Gah all them skinny wheel dudes in spandex are assholes!!” And then you end up with stuff like this fun one: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/11/09/texas-teen-driver-bicyclists-truck-charges/

Too many lives fucked up on that one out of sheer stupidity.

I understand the frustrations. I deal with it also. Also have a FIL who is an avid cyclist that rides 60-120 miles every other day, has been hit by DUI driver that made him quit for years, got run off the road by a dump truck driver that left him concussed laying on the side of the road, and countless other things. When those guys are grinding and dozens of miles in, they’re not always thinking clearly. If you don’t ride like that, you may not realize, stuff just turns off in the brain. It’s a pretty intense activity. I only know this because I’ve had ample conversations from 20 years of knowing the guy and being his SIL asking dozens of questions. he empathizes, he tries not to be a dick for fear of retaliation he’s already suffered from, and … I just worry sometimes about the normalization of the words I’m seeing here. The guy is family, one of the most awesome dudes any of us could want to meet.

    Words mean something, my bros.

On your first point, people blaming their bad actions on something they read on the interwebs or maybe on the video game they played or the song they heard is old news (remember the congressional testimony of heavy metal back in the day) is more of a reflection on the mental instability of said person and the fact that they already have problems.

Next point, yes I do know the grinding intense activity. Back in my 20s I put a spedometer/odo on my mountain bike and would do daily rides of at least 20-25 miles as I was working to lose weigh. Thing is, I only did it in the desert and on the side of rarely used secondary roads, often in the dirt shoulder to stay the fuck away from any cars. Also, if you are riding to the point of "you may not realize, stuff just turns off in the brain.", then I would call that being distracted the same as texting and driving, and if you are at that point then you have no right to be on a public road and should be cited, same as the distracted driver with a phone in their hand.

Part of endurance training is keeping the mind sharp. When I'm in the running mood my long runs are 20-40 miles and I would never treat the people I encounter like the cyclists in my area do.

I run with dale and as a considerate human knowing that not everyone is okay with dogs we yield to basically any oncoming traffic on single track. We physically stop one wide step off trail, dale sits, and I smile and say something nice regardless of my physical/mental circumstances. When coming up on slow traffic I announce our presence, we pass carefully and considerately, and thank the party/offer some kind words as we continue on.

I'll go one step further and say hypoxia/brain fog is more akin to drunk driving.

Larger 2 piece rotors. Still 4 pots. Stiffer calipers technically. They really did a lot in terms of stopping power. Directional rotors too so better cooling.

Yes, and yes. BTW, up here in MI we pay a tax on our fuel to fund the roads which pedal bikers use like they own.
I've seen so many perfectly good 4 lane arteries/roads reduced to 2 and turned into choke point Charlie by bike lanes.
Then it's the "I'm a pedestrian on the sidewalk" and I'm going to speed into your door as you take that right turn
No wait "I'm a car in your lane" and I'm going to ride in the middle of the road... just because I can.
Oh wait, now "I'm going to use the bike lane" but still ignore any traffic signals/lights etc...
And at any moment I will, at my discretion switch to any of them. YOU look out for me.

For a several months in 2020 I rode this thing to and from work.
    Capture.jpg
I stayed on the sidewalk, was careful of pedestrians, driveways and obeyed pedestrian signals at intersections.
Because I'm not stupid, but mainly because I don't want to Die or be crippled.

In TX the law requires cyclists to ride in the street. It's a dumb law.

For every decent person like yourself there are five more A-holes who ride sidewalks and end up clipping or nearly clipping pedestrians as they bicycle by at 15-20 mph.

Happens on Comm Ave in Boston on a daily basis in front of BU. F’ing students.
