If you're wanting TiG get the hi-freq Vulcan or a Miller Dynasty 2000 series. The Titanium will do it but it's scratch start. I prefer just be able to jump the arc off the tungsten to my base metal. Some guys like it, I just feel it's an unnecessary point of electrode contamination. It migs pretty alright as long as your doing 1/4" or less. My only complaint is the scratch start TiG and it's manual cover gas valve. Another reason to go with a pedal or thumb control AC DC hi-freq machine.

custom bent hoses? I've seen external springs to bend a hose & I'm sure this is old school to many here - but I've never seen internal springs to custom mold hoses. Makes total sense. 2 kit of springs probably comes in cheaper than 1 hose from Toyota.

The Lincoln Weld Pak 175HD they sell at big orange fits the bill, I got mine for a steal from someone who probably ganked it from their employer NIB, IIRC I paid around $350. Remember, tank of gas for MIG isn't cheap, I think I paid around $120 for the tank and fill, but you can build your own cart.

Hobart 175 was a solid option back then, 15yrs ago. Everlast was pushing stuff to market at the time, I got one of their plasmas bitd. There's a ton of other brands on the market now, so I don't have any current frame of reference. I'm sure it's like everything else: Same mainland China factory makes most of it, maybe even Big Red and Big Blue stuff, so ... likely "same shit different pile" applies on the majority of it.

Jeebus, even the Handler 125 is $450 now! I didn't realize the price of welders went up so much. It was barely $300 when I got the WeldPAK

That Hobart has its own generator attached. You can run a house in it if needed. It's a lite to medium duty Stick and MiG unit meant for welding welding. I'm not a huge Hobart guy but I've used two of them now and I'm sold in it. Enough so that I'll recommend them. But if I'm gonna buy a AC DC multi process it's either gonna be that new Vulcan 209/ 211 or a Miller Dynasty 2800/2900

Also Lincoln Miller and Hobarts have never been cheap per say. They're top shelf name branded for life units. They've always sold for a premium. At least as far back as 2003 when I started shoping for them, new any how. Even used Lincolns and Millers are like our trucks, hold their fucking value

All kinds of yahoos at work use the welder and usually fuck something up(leaving the gas on is one of my biggest peeves) so I just replace the entire feed whip when it gets kinked or whatever

To answer your question, it hasn't. It's the original that came with it. I shot alcohol down it from the feed side and then shot it with 110 psi compressed air. Let it dry for about 3 minutes then hit it up with the Millermatic wire feed lube. I replaced the tip, cleaned the oiler sponge, adjusted the sponge pressure clamp pressure, cleaned the feed wheels and the wire grooves out, cleaned the forcing/ guide cone out, cleaned the internal terminals out/ off, gas ports, and cone tip cover as well. Also Iso'd the entire spool itself down, then hit it up with some of the wire lube, and I dry lubed the inside of the spool and the spool hub itself for good measure.

Not sure what the culprit was but she's a running now, and the wire speed is back to true. Even at full tilt it was slower than I remember a Miller MiG unit being. Honestly it needs to get professional cleaned and calibrated/ tested. All the glass dust here isn't good for it.

I've got a Lincoln weldpak 125 Nascar edition. It was sold fluxcore ready, and MIG capable, just had to purchase the gas conversion kit, and of course tank and fill. Works great for smaller stuff. MIG is clean AF, but I mostly use it outside, so typically setup for fluxcore. Easier to transport without tanks as well. Found some dude on Crazylist that bought it new for a home project, once finished, sold it to me for $200. Still feel like I stole it from him.

The wire speed on my little lincoln is turbo. Only time it gets turned up above 3 is to load new wire. Goes up to 10
