Yeah, we tore it down to diagnose #5 lifter failure. It shit all its needle bearings out and the roller was eaten up. We did a DOD delete while we had it torn down, but uponce reassembly it turns out the crank bearings were already too far gone and the motor locked up. Shame.

These are not the answer. They will keep the motor from going into 4 cylinder mode, but it will not prevent lifter failure. They spoof the the computer into not switching to 4 cylinder mode, they do not deactivate the DOD.

I’d rather have the Dodge SRT-10 pickup with the V10 Viper engine.

So what causes lifter failure? What's DOD?

Bad steel and / or sticking DOD lifters causes them to fail. DOD is displacement on demand. They also called it AFM for active fuel management. It shuts down 4 cylinders while driving to save a little gas. The valves on those four cylinder open to go into no compression mode so the engine can use the other 4 cylinder to power it. In my BILs case, bad steel caused a regular lifter to fail. Most of the failures are stuck DOD lifters. It’s a shit design.

RAM TRX is outrageously priced as well and commands a premium similar to the Syclone. I’m less a fan of the Lightning than the SRT-10.

Maybe it's just visual but I like how the lighting is smaller. Rams are always chonky. TRX's are cool but bad economy and a dope truck = entirely too much $$$ as well. And again they're chunky boys

Both are pretty sweet. Might be a hard choice if it were between a second gen Lightning and an RC SRT-10. But if the SRT were a DC, I'd pick the Lightning all day.

I'd take a first gen AC Raptor 6.2L over a TRX.
I could always supercharge it later.

I like the sound of the v10 over the v8 myself. Just sounds meaner IMO. Style wise, the SVT may look a little better.

I think I'd pay handsomely if it were possible to get a full V8/4WD OEM 1st gen Limited badges.

I dunno man, I'd probably just put a DO NOT ENTER sign on the driveway you don't want people to use. And if you're in danger, you may also want to tattoo one near your butthole, just to dissuade anyone who may get any ideas.

There’s an absolute tits red ramcharger on the way to my buddies house. Looks concours level restored or original. Probably 318.

Those 318s are absolute dogs, if I'm remembering right they were anywhere from 150 to 230hp depending on the year.

The 93 Dakota I had was equipped with the Magnum version and was alright but by no means fun to drive.

Indeed, but they have proved to be the longest lasting of the Dodge V8s. Hard to find a 360 survivor.

Wife won a bottle of this last night. Not sure how people drink it, smells like paint thinner.

It's better in drinks than on rocks. Old fashioned, vieux carre, manhattan, boulevardier, sazerac, etc.

Today we took our old dog for her last hike. Her hips are failing. We walked right over a copperhead. I was even looking at the ground for snakes and still missed it. My wife was behind me and saw it move as I stepped over it. I heard it at that point. I'm glad they aren't aggressive.

Oh she's not dying. She just can't do long walks anymore. She's like 83 in dog years. We're loading her up with pain meds.
