I agree, I want those. One day I'll pull the trigger on either the countersteer or the six-shooter. On another note, I stopped by Triple C the other day and got Chris to scan my ECU and send it off the VFTuner. Fingers crossed they'll unlock it.

I did as well, on Sunday. But unfortunately my ECM couldn't connect with tech stream. So at this time my options are to pull the ECM and send it to OV/VF Tune for them to try to tune or swap ECMs, or lastly just wait and hope my Cal ID becomes supported some day. I think I'll just wait for now.

IIRC besides regular maintenance (including pads, rotors, and timing belts), 1st gen taco only needed radiator and now looks like valve cover gaskets in 173K, while 1st gen tundra needed recall LBJs of course, radiator, and now looks like valve cover gaskets and a rear wheel bearing after 248K miles, but luckily no transmission issues. The valve body swap looks very straight forward and guess a harbor freight press would be needed to keep up with bearings every 60K?! How long do the boxer motors last?

I told you it's really not impressive unless you're in the path of totality. I would not have driven 6 hours to see a partial eclipse. Watching the sky go from sunny to dark in seconds is wild.

Actually it wasn’t that bad on the news. At least you could see the moon covering the sun like they said (in Boston). I really have no explanation as to why the sun was still so bright where I was located. I’ll bet I could see it to some degree if I had the glasses.

The evening news here was still teaching people how to make their own eclipse viewing devices, very helpful.

Haha. I got an email at 2pm that glasses were available at a library 15 miles away. A little late.

I guess I’ll catch the next one in my next life.

Yes, if you had the glasses you could have at least seen that aspect of it which is neat. Without the glasses you can barely tell something is going on until it gets close to a total eclipse and starts to get a little darker. Again, the real magic starts when it totally blocks the sun. Hard to explain how neat it is.

it’s easier than that. They are sealed hub assemblies. It’s 4 bolts.

Cam gear seal behind the timing cover. It’s not common but not unheard of on the FB20D for them to develop a leak. Only bitch is, there’s no room to work on it so you have to pull the motor to reseal.
The design of the exhaust manifold has the cat converter sitting directly below the front timing cover. Once the leak developed, it dropped directly on to the front O2 and fouled it out. I wasn’t in a position to repair it and it drove like ass because of it so I sold it to our used car dept.

It was over cast at my house, but this was peak totality yesterday. Pictures were taken 13 minutes apart

My auto-darkening welding hood wasn't working for me. Apparently the sun isn't bright enough to switch it on. However, 8 layers of 15% window tint was perfect. It's pretty amusing how much of a big deal people made about that. Unless it was a total eclipse, not that exciting to me.

annular is a total eclipse, but the moon isnt close enough to cover the sun, and a hybrid is where it might start as an annular & becomes a total eclipse or vice versa.

The total eclipse was truly breathtaking. A super normal moment that everyone with us was genuinely blown away by. It’s totality, or nothing.

my old school non-auto welding helmet worked fine, but my brother showed up with some fancy glasses that were way better than the cardboard ones i ordered. In 80 years, that was grandma's first time in the darkness of totality.

It's one of those things you can't understand until you experience it. We got lucky in 2017 that it came right over Knoxville. After seeing that one I said I was going to drive to see this one. This one was 4x as long(totality). If I'm still alive I may drive to Montana in 20 years for the next one.

I would’ve only had to drive for 2 hours to northern NH to be in the path of totality. I’m surprised nobody around here made a big deal of it until the day before.
