I just realized I never got an email back from Serra Toyota about my order, placed a few days shy of a month ago. I emailed them thursday before 5pm. Ugh

Even if it says “moon mist” beware. Toyota has been shipping a few different paint-match boards as tan/beige lately. Like, once they run out of paint matched stuff they just ship tan/beige. It happened to me with my vent window latches, and has happened to a few people on here with seat belt plastics and similar parts.

If you want to fly in and do the swap for me, you can leave with the parts for free :). I have a wheel puller and a clock spring and right now my SRS light is on so not like there is anything left to break there.

I’m just too behind on everything to make progress on nice to have stuff like wheel audio controls. It’d make more sense for me to get my Gentex wired up and maybe the amps and subs. But first, must do O2 sensors and cluster lights.

Not that flying with an airbag is a good idea of course, might even be against the law? So we’d have to ship that part ground?

Yes youd have to ship it ground. Post office shpuld ship it priority ground. With out a charge source the air bag should be fine. I've bought airbag incerts for VWs off eBay before amd they shipped priority ground and didnt explode in transit lol.

    I'd be hitting a junkyard.

And Dave, I'd be shocked if you need a wheel puller. Just grabbing the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock, and doing a push-pull on mine was enough to break mine free. I've seen others on YT do similar on misc Toyotas, including the 1GT.

I may have tried that, and eBay and Google already. And if I'm going to spend money Id rather do business with a fellow 1FGT Tubdra guy vice giving my money to a business or parts braker that couldn't care less about our trucks.

That's exactly why I'm doing it on my own after receiving those quotes, haha. I'm not paying that for some vapor barrier.

I'm going to go up the wall 2ft first then lay the ground plastic on the overlap. They quoted to add sump pumps in my crawlspace but I have no running water or standing water anywhere and it's not needed, just a cash grab from them.

The positive side of them coming out for the quote is that they did all the measurements for free so I can get the supplies I need based on that.

Companies like Aquaguard are pretty notorious for large bills.

Not sure if they quoted sump b/c of concern about standing water once the plastic is in? Don't want puddling or water buildup down there (mosquitoes suck, humidity sucks), but if there's no source for water entry, and water doesn't come up from the ground, I can't imagine a problem.

My future son in law will inherit his father’s crawl space and basement company. Seems it’s pretty good money based on their facilities and lifestyles. That can be deceiving though.

Get a soft rubber mallet and tap the steering wheel towards you, work your way around the base nearest to the steering collum as you can get with out damaging your plastics and dash.

Oh and take the nut off the night before and apply some good creep or pennitrante oil and let it sit overnight. Tape your horn contacts off before applying the oil.

Then apply some thin grease or antiseize to the spline shaft before reinstalling the new one
