I’m glad I order mine when I did.

Work has been busy. I haven’t had much time to finish my truck.

I’m planning to get to work early and see what I can get done before we open. The schedule should be light enough to get the engine done. I just lack the half moons and cam plugs. Then I can reassemble the timing and put on the valve covers. After that, I’ll pull the trans and do the rear main. Fingers crossed she’ll be running by the weekend.

You ever open the shop to work on your truck on the weekend before? That would be dope.
You know what's even better? Using the shop to work on your stuff on the clock lol

Yes , i purchased a set but dont anticipate having them installed anytime soon. My exhaust is starting to rot so might have to tackle sooner than later. Stilp apprehensive about how o2's will respond . My fab guy took a look at them and said they should be fine. I will make comprehensive review once installed. Keith was pleasant to deal with and provided good post sale service.

It seems silly to spend more than $10k for a personal vehicle. I get it, people want to keep up with the jones', but it doesnt make any sense when nobody on the road is paying any attention, and theft is so easy.

heres another reason to keep the old stuff running.

Working in Collision repair has kept me far from wanting any newer vehicles. Parts are extremely expensive and repair costs have doubled due to the safety features.

If you have a vehicle with blind spot monitors and you scratch your rear bumper on the sides, automatic replace. We are not allowed by Toyota to repair over any safety sensors because it changes the thickness of the bumper and negatively affects how the sonar reads through the panel. So a small bumper repair on an older vehicle is now an automatic full replacement.

The new Corolla headlamp assemblies are $1,200.00 per unit. PER UNIT.

New windshield? No longer $300.00/500.00. Typical windshield replacements are now $1,100.00 - $1,300.00 because you have to recalibrate the front collision avoidance systems because 1 of the 2 front radar systems is located on the windshield with the rear view mirror. Manufacturers are requiring OEM windshields because aftermarket glass could be a different thickness than OEM and cause the radar readings to be inaccurate.

Front bumper repairs/replacements are now around $2,000.000 because of the recalibrations and sensors. The sensors are $1,000.00 per unit, if damaged. Light scratch on the sensor? Immediate replacement.

This is why I will stick with my easier to fix 06 Tundra and 98 Camry.

Fuck all that noise. I guess I'm lucky I lived during the analog days of cars and these new features were just starting to come out.

I feel like I need to do a throwback, given the notorious sewing-machine-like-ticking of the 2UZ-FE.

I'd put the stripes outside the car, but I'm sure some undereducated dumbass would think I'm somehow trying to rep/support the alphabet gang - with whom I have no problem whatsoever b/c I don't care about things that don't have any bearing on my life - but I love my Tundra far more and would hate to see it get damaged because someone is ignorant.

I wonder if I could just get the "Toyota MINI" sticker, maybe apply that just under the ridges underlining the v8 4.7L ....

Toyota started off as an automatic loom company and then changed over to automobiles but I didn't know that they made sewing machines.
