Thanks. I've read about those general differences and wondering if in real life anyone has found some of these features helpful and what specific ones and then what device is suggested beyond the basic readers and code clearers? TIA.

Some do use the additional features, some don't. Most just wanna read codes. Some guys have to troubleshoot emissions codes and need to see O2 sensor live data. Some 2nd gen guys need to be able to reset the ALC% of their FF 5.7s.

Put 26.306 gallons in the truck today. Low fuel light never came on, but it did die after a hard deceleration. Luckily it started right back up and drove the mileish to the station without issue.

Depends what you're doing. The $9 (pre pandemic) reader let me know how worried to be & the clear let me figure out the parameters that set off the light. Cheapee was good enough for years. If you need a little more detail, then stop by the auto parts store. The cheapee lets you know for sure you can wait for the weekend to deal with it.
When I had to start talking to the hybrid system, I went to China & got the low end of the professional level scanner. Cost about the same as a visit to the dealer who shalt never again be shadowed by my nor my vehicles presence. B*st*rds. Going to Ali Express got me the same Chinese computers they sell on Amazon, but it came with longer updates & was just cheaper enough I could upgrade one model & upgrade from wired to wireless. Way over the top for daily living, but it let me fix the hybrid for a year now which is cheaper & better than the dealers fix that lasted until the car's computer reset. I can program keys with the fancy computer - but how often do you have to do that?

All of it. Judging by the lack of preventative maintenence the P/O probably only put in a few gallons at a time.

The (D) indicator bulb is also out, which is what clued me into the low fuel bulb in the first place. I'll do all led's at some point.

Are the led dash bulbs dimmable? Because i usually turn my dash lights down to barely visible while driving at night.

Same. I didn't think about that, but I don't think its an issue. The fuel gauge has to stay incandescent so that the sender still reads accurately. @455h0le_dachshund makes me want to go with all red bulbs.

I have all led's in the camper and most of them are also wired through a rheostat so I can dim them. The Tundra dimmer switch is a similar setup.

My name is Ryan and I am an alcoholic. It has been seven days since my last drink.

I’ve never actually been to a meeting so I don’t know if that’s a real thing. I’ve just seen it on TV and it’s effective.

I’ve shared with you all that for over a decade I have been a very heavy and frequent drinker. I woke up Sunday, December 31 and came to the realization that living like that is something I no longer do. My mind, my body, my family can no longer take it. That’s the day that I decided to make a change.

Dry January was a thing that I had never considered, but I figured there was no better time to start. For me it was less about participating in something socially popular and more about making a lifestyle change. It’s a true battle against addiction and one that, up until that day, I never considered being a part of. Sunday, December 31 I went completely cold turkey.

I was doing well until last Saturday. That afternoon I was jonesing and gave into temptation. I figured one drink can’t hurt me. One drink lead to three, to four and then I found myself in trouble. I’d like to thank my unofficial, anonymous sponsor on here for reaching out to me that day and giving some much needed advise. He reminded me that I didn’t fuck it all up. I just stumbled and fell. He told me to get myself up off of the ground and get my ass back up on the horse. I needed to hear that. Here I am 7 days later, doing well and feeling much better about myself.

We all know that alcohol has calories and calorie intake leads to weight gain. Obviously daily intake of these calories will lead to weight retention. I’m happy to report that lack of alcohol calorie intake will inevitably lead to weight loss. Naturally, I wasn’t trying to lose weight, but it’s a really nice byproduct of the act of less drinking. I weigh myself every Saturday morning (have for years). On December 30, I was 231.5lbs. I’m 5’11” for reference. This morning I am 208.1lbs. This change in weight can only aid me in feeling even better about myself and act as motivation not to fall back into alcoholism.

With every passing day, this battle seems to get a little easier. My body is feeling better, my mind is sharper and I’m finding myself willing to do more activities and enjoying the little things in the process. I’m sad that I wasted a fourth of my life to this addiction. As Tim McGraw wrote, “I’ll do it better in my next 30 years”.

Thanks for sharing that. And thank you to whoever your unofficial sponsor on here was that helped you get back on track that day. One of the more powerful statements I ever heard about alcoholism is that after a year, or 10 years of not drinking, you do not stop being an alcoholic. You simply must choose each day to not give in and drink. Every day will be a choice to make. I sincerely hope you continue to be strong enough to make the right choice. Friends, family and of course your own personal mental and physical well being will thank you. Appreciate your presence here!! You can do it, hopefully I’m speaking for all of us when I say we’ve got your back.
