And we’ll go deeper yet. Basically have the block, rotating assembly and oil pan left when it’s torn all the way down. Cam has to come out.

He just wants his truck back sans DOD. The 6.2 is 420hp, he’s happy.

Doesn't look like it. If you look at the plaster outline around it it looks like it was cut in. I'd say probably in the 80s.

It looks like your standard Broan cheapie fart fan. Coulda been 90s. The ones they make today still look like that. Can't find a picture of the insides but it looks like this:

Those little shaded pole motors haven't changed a lot. Outside of the bearings getting trashed a new one won't be much different.

If it's quiet after oiling that's good enough.

I did the same thing with my 1991 fart fan last year. I wanted to replace it but didn't feel like cutting the ceiling to make one fit and couldn't find an exact match in size.

Yep. I also wrapped the edges of the sheet metal insert with black tape to reduce noise from vibration at the mating surfaces. The blower wheel isn't very balanced.

Panasonic makes great low-noise high-CFM fans. I've replaced all fans in my house with them except 1.

@ToyotaDude isn't the date of manuf'er or other details stamped into the steel right here, maybe including the voltage, model# and patent#?

Did you find exact fits or make the ceiling hole bigger to fit? I'd like to replace all 3 of ours when I have the time.

Three total, for one I was relocating the fan during remodel. Another was new construction. The last one was in the kids' bathroom and I had to open the hole a bit. You may be able to find exact fits.

YMMV, but most of those fans are either nailed between studs, or with ones I've replaced in my house and previous houses, they used the manuf'er brackets to tie them between two standard width studs. If you have one with attic access, I recommend doing one of those first to see what your builder chose to do, and you'll know what to expect on other fans where you may not have access from the back side. Install is pretty straight forward. Make sure the power is off, pull the old, enlarge hole if needed, bolt it in, wire it up.

The big aha/gotcha is the vent diameter. Check to see if your current vent is a 3", 4" or 6" (I think are the three common sizes, check first). Also, check the vent at the wall of the house to see what size it is, in case the builder adapted up/down for some reason. Like, my house is only 20yrs old, but the builder used a 4" exit vent, and the original Broan "builder special" exhaust fan was 3". Fortunately he adapted at the fan and ran 4" hard line to the vent ... but you may not be so lucky. Not a lot of variables to feck up here.

You may be able to use Build.com's system to find what you need, size wise, using the filters on the left here: https://www.build.com/panasonic-bath-fans/c112758

I think "Housing length" may be what you're looking for? Possibly. X-ref the specs to Panasonic's site.

And be careful, not all have a light integrated.

I just redid a bathroom in my house and didn't want to deal with replacing the fan so I just cleaned mine up. Looks similar to yours. My house was built in 1992.
