I'd do it, but 3000km of driving stick left-handed and on the wrong side of the roads through Ireland a few years back was enough for me. I'll drive anything, but I'm not a mail carrier, I can't get accustomed to RHD and would never own an RHD vehicle.

As a former mail carrier for 20 years, you get used to it fairly quickly. Although fast food drive thrus suck.

But manual vs. auto? I definitely got used to it while in Ireland, but it doesn't mean I want to do it again. Driving on the wrong side of the road, shifting with the wrong hand, using normal LHD pedal configuration, and entering roundabouts the wrong way was ... yeah. The only reason it made sense in my brain is [wrong side of road + wrong side of car].

Good point, every RHD I've ever had was an auto. Stick would have taken a bit more learning.

I dunno, I bet you’re way more fun when you’re pissed off, at least more fun than when being pissed on.

Bought some stuff for the PC.

    Screenshot_20240108_222056_Adblock Browser.jpg

I replaced all my cables with hdmi 2.1 and it helped with the screen tear, but didn't eliminate it. So I said fuck it and bought all that. Not pictured is a cooler for the CPU. I have no idea what I'm doing so this should be fun. I also bought a new receiver but after looking more in depth into mine it's not any better than my 3 year old one. I won't have to upgrade it until I bump up to an OLED 120hz TV.

Large flat panel that looks like it would easily hold an 8" sub or nearly as large midwoofer behind it, versus the down-firing assembly we have that won't accept much more than a 6½"

We got a ton of rain instead of snow. Lots of flooding which is pretty common this time of year.

I may have to go back and claim that canoe. I'm curious where it could have come from since that's just a creek in the background.

Well, update on this. I emailed pics over the weekend. Didn't hear anything back. Just called them back, and they said "been having issues with CV axles arriving damaged here lately, this isn't anything new. we're just going to refund your money, and you can keep the damaged part..."

I guess they agreed, the damage was unacceptable. Not holding my breath until I actually see the refund hit my Amex, but ... Meh.

Also, Elmhurst Toyota still hasn't shipped my other axle after 5 days of the label being printed off. Super weird. I'd hoped to at least have 1 good spare on-hand. Where that steel is totally curled over on itself, I believe, is going to be a f'n problem. The other spots I think I could bend out, but you can't uncurl metal that's curled over like that one is.

I mean, should have a registration number on it, it's a boat. Or maybe not because it's a canoe. But maybe?

In this case, I'm fairly sure maritime laws may apply, i.e. "finders keepers"? IANAL so don't take that as fact. You have dated, photographic evidence when/where you found it though.

    Awesome!

Didn't have to pay anything; now the question is whether it's easy to fix that. Doesn't look all too bad.

I'm thinking it's about 30-45 minutes to get it into a fully-functional, sealing state, and a solid 2-3 hours work to get it up to snuff.

I may give it a shot. I'm waiting for a refund to come thru before I do anything, though.

I had to register my first kayak online with the serial or the vin but after that one I gave up on doing that shit. Didn't do it with the 2nd one

If I'm down bad enough to lose a kayak, I don't need the mf

Anyone round San Diego? Headed there the end of this month for a little bday getaway with no kids. Looking for a few good ‘speakeasy’s’, food and just some warmer weather. Any recommendations? Already booked raised by wolves and music convoy bar so I’m hoping those will be cool little spots.

@CodyP - as a kid spent lot of time in SD and Imperial Valley. Anthony’s fish grotto on the water used to be great. Lots of good restaurants in the gaslight district. I like Croce’s but too many to name all. Be sure to check out Coronado as well

You like beer? You like west coast style brews? For big names; Stone has taprooms setup all over. Lagunitas is pretty solid too. Last time I was there was pre-Covid but hit a few places. SD and it’s burbs are huge.
