I'm assuming there are some differences with the springs as far as tension/spring rate goes, because the 4WD extra bits are heavier, but I doubt it's going to cause major problems swapping it over.

I'm basing that on the fact that the guy who bought my OEM wheels recently took my AC 4WD OEM struts, and his friend installed them in his 2WD DC and had no issues to report.

I mean, we've got some in the fridge. It's all my better 3/4 will eat. Maybe she's not using it right.

To summarize in case you can't see the words that go with this, they are going to test the difference in a 1,000,000 mile stock tundra shock and a brand new shock. They haven't done the testing yet

Here is confirmation that the aftermarket 4600s are not exactly identical to the stock 4600s found on TRD trucks. Slightly stiffer.

The next question is WHY would someone would drive a shock to a million miles that wore out 900k miles ago.

Makes for an uncomfortable ride after they wear out. I can attest to that having done mine at 230k. You can feel a jolt going over any roadwork with a bumpy surface.

@assassin10000 my 5100's are for the rear & dont have clips or grooves, but the 6112 measurements are gonna have to wait. Battery's dead on my calipers & i havent dug for my precision set yet.

As a side note, has anyone used cheap spring insulators? Or know if oem insulators are available?

Gotcha. I have a rear pair of 5100's on hand. I was hoping you got front 5100's to. I didn't realize you had 6112's coming.

Measurements would still be cool tho. Whenever you get around to it.

I picked up the sos front lowering kit and want to see if it'll work with 5100's. I don't want the full front 2" drop, as I have tc rear shackles which lower 3/4".

I think that was the original type wood stove, invented by Benjamin Franklin. Fireplaces were/are charming but lost most of their heat up the chimney.

My FIL is a hardcore prepper and sent my wife home with this bag. I wonder how the pouch water tastes. He also included these questionable looking jack stands. Maybe he wants to kill me...

I been wondering the same thing about the SOS and 5100's, but for more stiffness, not height. I've currently got the 4600's in front and KYBs in the rear. I plan to put a progressive AAL on the rear since it's now SUA. So it won't affect height, just stiffen the rear. When I do, I plan to swap in rear 5100's for their added length, because the bottom rear shock mount on the SOS kit goes on the u-bolt saddles. So an AAL on spring under axle would effectively lower my shock mount.

Issue you'll run into is boards that depth unless you're doing multiple boards per shelf or plywood.
    KYB are fine

IME parents get to a phase where they start emptying the house of stuff they won't be using anymore, but want in reach 'just in case'. IE, they start gifting it to the kids. They're "only" 2 ton stands, but expect you'll get some use out of them before he does.

Look at it this way - he's clearing out the house - less work for you two eventually.
When I was down for Christmas Dad told me to take the hammer drill, Sawzall, and the workbench. He built that workbench in the basement in 1964 - that beast is going to the next owners. He's trying to get me to take a big (mahogany?) executive desk with glass over leather top. Beautiful but WTH am I going to do with it, I'm on countdown to dipping into my 401k. I should be in clearing out the house mode.

Just don't do poly, I think that's the biggest mistake you can make. KYB and Bilstein are about the only companies in that list I'd consider trusting.

I used that exact set of jackstands for years to lift all kinds of things. I'd use those over the deathtrap non-locking-ratchet-style jackstands any day. The weak point on those yellow ones is the integrity of the locking pin. But I guarantee you that locking pin won't shear as quickly as a ratchet will fail.[/user]
