I should have known better. Still need to aim them, but as is they will sunburn your ankles. I don't have a good flat ground + wall combo on property. Hopefully tomorrow I can put a bow on the front crossmember, and I'll get re-inspected Monday to be legal again.

/i'd use the term "restore" a bit less liberally, but that was pretty awesome to watch and I'm sure was satisfying. I could smell the mouse poop through the screen.

I mean, I wouldn't have put fresh pads on after that, personally. And I think I'd just swap in new rotors, or pull those and have them turned at minimum, it's so cheap to do so. I think that was probably more for theatrics and I have my suspicions that was just for show, and they probably bolted on something else before driving.

 

A friend from high school got a Supra in that style during college.

I love the Corolla SR5 hb. I wish they weren’t so f’n exorbitantly expensive, I’d pick one up as a hobby car. I’m sure someone in GA probably has one in a barn somewhere, but hell if I’ve been able to find it.

 

My mom used to drive one of those Celicas when I was a kid. It had louvers on the back 3 windows.

I'm assuming Toyota has an equivalent to HEI for GM engines, where you're moving away from a distributor-based system and instead using either a central coil pack or individual coil packs. Although looking at the dist on the 2T-C it may already have the equivalent of that in it.

 

I'll have to take a walk thru my neighborhood tomorrow and see if the guy a few blocks away ever finished restoring his old Corola. It was an orange notch back. I always fantized about 60's and 70's Japanese coupes with v8 swaps, because they looked like shrunken down muscle cars already. I've never spoken to the owner, so I have no clue what he had planned for it. But I haven't been down that street since before my dog died. We used to walk by that Corolla every day. We also used to walk by a T3, but it's been gone for a while.

 

A four pin GM hei module is the go to on the older Toyota stuff. Just need an electronic distributor and a relay. In the 20r-22r the 22re dizzy is a direct swap, but with the t family your only electronic option may be a pertronix style.

I rewatched Initial D recently. I forgot how sexy the 80's coupes could be, since they only show the hatchbacks of the 86 Trueno, 86 Levin and 85 Levin (also sexy).

 

Had a white '76 of that in the family.
