Yeah, my old BMW used to do that too. I would pop it into neutral and feather the throttle a bit until the light turned green. Ran great otherwise. IACV was bad. Hard to get to it to repair. Easier just to feather...

Hahah of course I have these to mount, these exact ones. Casey posted a while ago and I thought they were just the cutest. I had mentioned something to nick and he said he had some in his cart. I was hoping to have them by dude ranch, but that didn’t happen.

Ok. I had MaxTrax on the first run I ever did, in my 2.5 gen 2WD with stock Michelin tires. I used 'em to get unstuck in circumstances caused by my failing to pay attention. And in a small box canyon where getting a tug would not have been easy, and most were very inexperienced.

I also used 'em once, another time, to back our "locked" 4 Runner (lame stock suspension; locked isn't locked if you can't keep tires on the ground) up a gentle hill it didn't want to climb in reverse.

I carried them another year until the dynamic weight broke the steel side panel of my KB Voodoo rack they'd been affixed to, then I quit carrying them. I'm not convinced they're worth the trouble. I mean, maybe if you go out alone, but you have us.

this is the stuff of peoples nightmares.

but its together now... just some interesting looks inside a manual... going to try and get it in the car tomorrow with the new clutch

so we have a 1993 mr2 transmission, that was brand new
ripped open to install a 1992 camry final drive (3.6 instead of the stock 4.2)
and a custom taller 5th gear... this car will now be capable of 40 mpg if i keep my foot out of it... 5th is purely for economy now. 1-4 is still stock mr2 ratios. but the 3.6 final lets me use the v6 torque more effectively rather than shifting every 2 seconds

In regards to my previous post about my shitbox camry making a god awful noise while turning after sitting for 6 months, I definitely found the problem.
    20231016_181804.jpg
I guess the spring decided to break while it was sitting in the driveway. Guess it will be getting new struts after all.
I also found out what was up with the wasp activity.

That’s actually pretty common on Camrys

Good news, KYB has their rebate going on right now. Best quick struts by far for Toyotas

I was looking at FCS. This car probably won't get 1000 miles on it a year. It just needs good enough. It's at 467k miles. I'll take a gander on their site though.

Upon further looking, they only sell preassembled rears for a 96, no fronts on their website or RockAuto.

Found FCS on rockauto. About $130 or so all in.
Yeah it's a shitbox, only gets driven from first chance of snow to the last chance of snow every year. Sits for about 6 months a year. Been treating me good enough other than this. Hardly worth selling for $1000. Easier just to keep around.

That’s how I feel about my corolla.. paid 500 for it. Put 1000 into it, 120k miles later it’s had zero issues. Don’t “need” it. But can’t bring myself to sell somthing that’s needed nothin. So I let my father drive it to work (and I just put a lift kit on it and have wildpeaks coming for it because why not?)

You guys and your shitboxes. I need to get off my ass and get my shitbox back up and running. Its been sitting in the barn forever. Tires are flat and I know I'll need to put the ignition switch back in that my brother was trying to fix and just left.

Here's a pic from when he couldn't stop in time and smacked another shitbox. Lol.
