He will never get that much money. Add $750 once painted? Dude is smokin crack. He would be better off selling for a light discount and letting the buyer pick the paint. I would love to have the rear bumper but not at that price.

So I'm just poking around on autotempest as I like to just see what's out there. Not looking for anything in particular. I have no brand selected, only "4x4"(not awd), and manual.

    Screenshot_20231010_231704_Adblock Browser.jpg

You can see it's surrounded by jeeps (eww). It's in the right price range, and it's a good price.

    Screenshot_20231010_231723_Adblock Browser.jpg

It's also in Haltom city, which is right by Ft Worth, which is where I'll be this weekend for the A7X concert. This is weird....I was just looking for one of these a few months ago....

Man, I miss my truck. College is great but blows sometimes.

Haven't driven it in over a month, which isn’t really all that long, but still. There’s a huge pile of parts waiting for me at home…

I’ve been putting a ton of miles on my Honda Insight, it’s 6 hours each way to visit my girlfriend on the weekends. 50+ MPG is awesome but driving up the hills in Wisconsin requires full throttle if you want your speed to stay above 75. I keep my foot to the floor for a solid three hours straight every time. It’s cheap and that’s great, but it would just be so nice to have cruise control, a comfy seat, and a quiet interior. Man.

looking at all my options one last time, but probably order it tomorrow.
Go test hoon it. See what it'll suffer before needing a headgasket.

I test drove an 11 back in 2016 before the big D and I don't mean Dallas. Funny this is that 11 and this car are listed for the same price, yet 7 years apart.

Actually, the EJ25 is a pretty stout motor. We don't see too many headgasket issues on the turbo models due to the different head design. My biggest concern would be any tune stored in the ECM. These things can handle power if built properly, but most guys just throw on a downpipe with a Cobb access port and beat on them until the motor starts knocking 3,000 miles later. It would be a really good idea to take it to a Subaru dealer and pay for a used car inspection just to have the CID pulled on the ECM and have it verified as OEM with tech support.

EDIT: ask me how I know

Lack of quiet interior is pretty easily fixed with a pile of Noico, a screwdriver and panel-popper, and 3-4 hours time. Get on it, hoss. You know how to make this happen

Oh, don’t get me wrong, free market is great when there aren’t negative consequences for the consumer. I just love seeing the big boys who’re crushing out the competition under fire, potentially looking at setbacks, even if it seems unfair in the grand scheme of things. Primarily because those rarities when it actually happens may end up being the only opportunity scrappy underdogs get to gain some footing, and I’m that asshole who likes to root for the underdogs that are really pushing superior product and service. Secondarily, it’s nice to see massive sources of fraud & abuse get hammered on.

As much as I love free market idealism, I love scrappy underdogs more. I wish giants failed more often … we’d see a hell of a lot better service, more significant innovation, and a better consumer experience overall. When things get as big as eBay, they no longer need to bother with legit customer service to turn significant profits.
