Good to hear. Sucks to hear it's still painful, but good for the progress.

I wouldn't say it's so much painful (ok, yawning and sneezing are fucking painful), but let's just say swallowing nearly anything rn still feels like I ate several large balls of sandpaper 5 minutes ago and now I'm drinking lemonade without any sugar.

I’m supposed to work from home more than I get to. I manage a team of basically customer support specialists in healthcare. Currently short staffed so I’m flying around covering a bunch of open areas. Shit rolls uphill when your the manager.

I work in logistics. My job is part operations, part sales and part customer service. 2 days a week I work directly with my customer at their office. Before COVID I was in their office 5 days a week. That's the only reason I get to work from home.

I majored in Logistics and worked my way up at different companies. It wouldn't be a bad industry to get into. Depending on what you do, you wouldn't need a logistics degree.

I was going to ask if you were in sales. I'm interviewing for a sales position which would require some travel.

Not sales, but support. And I too do mostly logistics from home. No degree in that.

I’m digital hardware engineer. Design is 90% documenting requirements, explaining how you intend to meet them, and then with whatever funding you have left doing the design, running out of funding prematurely and being told to just solve any outstanding issues in integration because more money is involved and its not your manager’s bucket of money to manage.

Software people have it worse with even more reviews.

So to answer your question, design can be done at home along with prep, but lab work, actual reviews and integration require you to be onsite.

You can answer a phone at home to provide customer service. With a screaming baby in your lap. Or with your TV on full blast in the background. Or outside on your back porch with all the noisy birds. Covid taught me that.

    Follow-up. Follow-up. :D
Don't want to Fk-up the guy who helped me out.

Honestly, I wonder anymore. Supposedly cloud infra, cloud security, cloud engineering, but it feels like anything but that lately.

True, until you break into/through middle mgmt layer ('head of'/'director' level, pre-VP). But I've noticed more companies over the past 10 years have been slowly eradicating the HOF/Director level entirely, where you have managers and team leads talking to the VP level in an effort to reduce costs.

There's a taco spot on the south side I can recommend. Honestly, I can rattle off a couple spots, but one place I typically go hit up while there that's just got solid steak is Culinary Dropout. Their steak frites is solid and usually have at least one or two solid beers on draft. Technically it's in s-dale, but ...

Fate Brewing was pretty solid out of the breweries I've hit so far.

I can't make the posted dates and also, it's super close in time to the Superstition meet, with similar terrain. Same, re: Utah but, I think, Parker could be fun from a social standpoint. I'm bummed Parker is the inaugural "first" of destinations not Sedona though-- not nearly as enticing a destination for people who'd have to travel a long way. Probably it was the easiest alternate for organizers-- a valid consideration.

@DJenerated You can also go the quick route of getting certified as a web designer and doing that sort of work from home. Decent pay, $75k (around here at least) for just a 1-2 year software certification.
