2UZs and 3URs were not meant for swapping. The LS was born for it.

True, just thinking how it would be cool to be able drop a Toyota V8 in my 60 and keep it all Toyota.

if you want an easy 2-bolt 300hp engine swap you'll be better off with a 305 chevy.

Boooo. Maybe the 302, 327 or even a 383 stroker setup, but not the 305. Snoozefest.

Here is why I dispute it, as a GenIII swap junkie who is overdue for his next personal project, after doing way too many swaps with/for other people during the last decade.

Even if you kept it all-Toyota, what do you have? A 4.7L engine that's probably gonna get 15mpg max with very few aftermarket add-ons to bump up that performance and justify such a low MPG.

On the other hand, if you tossed in a GenIII or even a GenIV SBC, not only are you going to probably net 19-21mpg on that vehicle (in my experience w/2WD at least), but there's a GAGGLE of inexpensive but rock-solid aftermarket parts you can throw at it to eek even more performance, potentially getting you over 450-500HP with n/a (non-fi) setup for less than you're into the engine for, costwise.

I dunno. I'm clearly, undeniable biased. But as usual, I'm with @Mr.bee and @KNABORES on this one.

    @shifty` whats the approved swap? 4.8 & turbo? 5.3 & blower? 6.2 or 7.0 straight up? 6.0 & carbs?

Not to mention packaging alone. LS is tiny. Lots of room for activities.

I mean, I'd probably recommend LQ9 but run it natural. Iron block can handle a lot, lots of bolt-ons, easily beefed up on rebuild, Escalades are still pretty easy to come by in decent shape (I think those were in '02-'06?).

    Wouldn’t a 2jz-gte be the easiest swap?

They’re both inline 6 cylinders, right?

Getcha a hold of a 12HT motor. Local cruiserhead near me has the most beautiful 60 I’ve ever seen. He buys up those 12HTs from Japan and Australia and imports them and does swaps into American 60s (where we never had that option). Or do a Cummins swap. Pair either of those with the H55F 5-speed and you are doing 20+ mpg easy and doing 75-80 like in a more modern vehicle.

    Beautiful truck you got there!

Too many red flags for that price.
I bought my 03 with no rust and it ran, albeit it had a bad alternator and a misfire with 330k miles, for $2800 two years ago

If you could get it for $500 and source a new frame it would be "fun". I agree that it's too expensive as is.

Literally my exact truck except for 4x4. Also I am guessing that photo is from BEFORE the wreck, ha.

I'm guessing you're right, but w/them saying there was frame damage and it's totaled, I presume it was a front- or rear-ender, and the doors or even tailgate may be intact, along with nice interior. Could be worth someone reaching out ...

The fitment isn't ideal, but not a deal breaker for me either. It can still be sealed with some thick weather stripping and some tacticool silicon placement.
