I didn't check to see where he had me clocked yet. I also didn't check to see if he torqued down the top nut to spec. I haven't driven the truck since I got it home, actually.

Rest his soul but firm believer in DJ who was a big poster on TS before his demise.
In any case and yes this is a quote of his about a Sequoia but in many ways applies to Tundras.
Feel very confident @assassin10000 can expound on this also

@Mr.bee I was driving the Mule today and noticed when I come to a stop and put it in neutral, the idle stays kind of high for 30 seconds. I know nothing about carbs, what would cause that? Kind of annoying because if I don't wait for it to come down it grinds like a mofo when I throw it in gear.

I love carbs. I hate dirty, clogged carbs. But you get full control, and no computers to quietly play god, fine tuning everything. Set it, and forget it.

You want to hate on something, hate on points! UGH!

It's just an art I've never learned. I know you can make more power with them, and they are cheaper. They had a pretty good engine masters episode comparing them. I Used a brand new carb from summit to break my cam in on the fastback. Idle was going crazy so our dumbasses started spinning screws to right the ship. Turns out we didn't pay attention to the choke. It was bad.

I'm gonna spoil it. My uncle was the go-to guy in his circuit for this stuff. He shared a dirty secret with me. 90% of it is knowing (1) how to get each carb type to a baseline, a zero setting, where to dial things. (2) how many turns each gets you in the ballpark. Once in the ballpark, you'll be running just fine, but that's where the magic comes in, where people who know what they're doing really shine.

Was he right? I dunno. All the carb'd cars I ever owned were all 1bbl/2bbl, and his zero-out and dial-in-from-there instructions over the phone were always on-point. I'm sure he could've really honed things in optimally but the guy spent 50+ years of his life turning wrenches, I guess that teaches you something ;)

Saw the fro' man live about 10? years ago.

Smallish Texas conservative town at a since closed byob venue. He comes out drinking a colt 45 and smoking a blunt. Im in the crowd, just vibin, smoking big doinks and drinking cheap whiskey. About midway through the set I turn my back to the stage to accept a freshly lit fatty from a friend. Just as I hit it about 25 cops come absolutely flooding in the front door. He cuts the song and curses them up one side and down the other while absolutely trashing the stage. He was either cited or arrested, but I was too far gone at that point to remember the details. The party was over rather quickly, and my friends an I left without incident.

    10/10 highly recommend

Even with the rear wheel sliders locked with the pins, ours will shift with a little pressure. So it’s possible the truck shifted during front end adjustment. I’m sure ours with the pins in will more an 1/8 of an inch in any direction.

    Right idea, wrong direction.

I typically do 1 or 2 notches towards the rear of the vehicle if looking straight inwards.

A lot of the time I'm cranking the lowers as far forward as possible for tire clearance at the back/footwell. As most guys have cut their bumper or have an aftermarket.

    They didn't.

It's normal for it to shift a bit. Even a mild breeze blowing will cause the rack and/or tower to sway enough to change a couple hundredths of a degree. Its negligible and nothing to worry about.

Explain plz. Because that's what I did and it worked.... Flawlessly

    upload_2023-9-14_21-22-40.png

Why would you go backwards toward the firewall when that's where you rub????

Options B & C. They give more caster without clearance issues at the bottom.

Because I push the lower arms forwards.

We may mean the same thing but are wording it differently lol. I mean the joint pointing slightly backwards. Not the 'face' that says SPC.

Since the center of the hub is near the lower ball joint and not the upper, you can tip the spindle back without causing rub issues. Movement forwards or backwards at the upper ball joint makes minimal difference as far as clearance goes.

Edit: sometimes I flip the joint around so the flat face is outwards and the joint is inwards. This gives better coil clearance. Depending on the setup. This is of course not any of the settings on their sheet.

I want a fifth wheel hitch.
    IMG_4200.png
eventually, i WILL find a set of 1 ton axles. & with a good enough bumper the brakes become someone elses problem.

    IMG_4202.jpg
I think i'd love straightpiped stacks with flappers. Toting 1000 gallons of water...or a big boat. Making the little v8 sing. Like how much wind could be pushed by 300ish lbft? Then when it blows, i could take one of sirfives swap of the day ideas... or swap in a small detriot. Like a 3-53 paired to a lenco & one of those fancy 4-speed t-cases. Spend all day flippin' levers & making noise. No turbo for the screamin' jimmy. I want it to struggle. Just a wet fart to be heard for miles around.
