The center of the hood isn't looking too great either, or is that dry wax?

I wish you lived closer dude, weekend is tomorrow, I have no doubt we could get all of it gleaming in a couple hours on a lazy ass saturday.

Partly dry wax, partly oxidation. When I got the truck and had more free time I babied the paint like it was the only car I would ever have. School, work, and extracurricular activities have all put a pause on that anal-ness. Wish I had the time to go through and clay, polish, and wax the baby over again. I remember when I first did that process and the truck was looking absolutely f-ing mint.

And seriously! I wish the folks on here all lived in a gated 1st Gen community where we all swapped out our LBJs together every Sunday :( And it’s even tougher finding people IRL to work on my car with - What’s up with everyone being okay with dropping $$$ to have someone else do stuff on their car that’s easily learnable? I mean I live in an extremely wealthy area of the country, but hell no I’m not paying $550 for someone to wash and wax my car lol

Wow! If that starts and runs like the seller says, I'd buy it! Unless the frame is absolute toast, that's either a great deal from an honest seller (didn't list condition as 'excellent'), or a scam ad. Where's Dave, so we can find out? ;)

    Too soon?

Don't even get me started. I had two friends nearby I'd wrench with all the time, they also grew up in similar situations (i.e. latchkey kids, ample rural living where fixing things was "normal"), but one drifted off to the burbs after getting married, the other moved to Sunnyvale to work for the big G. You'd think with the population density around me I could find someone, but most everyone nearby is yuppie (or borderline so), or they hate cars, or mechanically clueless. The kids are finally at that age where they can be a significant help, but neither are interested, I'm sure that'll change when they get their own car and see how much it costs to have a shop do the work.

That was my take too. I believe I saved the business card with written estimate on it from the detail shop in my area. They wanted something in the $1k-2k range to fully buff & polish out the truck, then seal the paint after. Although I don't think you can truly "seal" single stage paint the same way you can multi-stage with clear. I had the tools already, minus the pads which were cheap enough. I really do need to go back over the passenger's side of the truck though. It's pretty clear I spent more time on the driver's side than the passenger side, I'm getting a little haze-out at the body seams. I'll hit it again when temps cool off a bit.

Yeah, it's about an hour drive from my parents. I sincerely thought about asking dad to go pick it up for me and I'd wire him the cash. But he's already fighting with mice getting in his 2nd (2.5?) gen, they'd probably have a field day destroying all the wiring before I had a chance to get the damn thing.

(if it was pre-2000s 2WD 4cyl Tacoma, there would be no question)

Spotted Terminator in the wild. I've seen this truck before but it's been a year or two.

Are those factory wheels or no?

The caps on the wheels make it look like an American Racing product.

They look like a 20” blinged version of the Ivan Stewart’s. If you squint a little.

I like those better. This one is pretty clean but the owner stuck a stupid Harley Davidson decal on the side.

I like GX470 17" 5-spokes better than the Tundra ones.

    But I like GX470 18" 6-spokes best ;)

Good plan! I’ve seen the guy on you tube that does that. Just rolls on a can of Rustoleum automotive paint with a 6” roller. Looks like ass. Then he does next level cut and buff and it looks like a professional paint job. Finished with 2k clear coat. Dew eeeeeet
