OK, since @FirstGenVol has deemed this the "bad money advice" thread, how about this:

I list my 21 ApriliaTuono 660 with 1500ish miles for sale.

    Screenshot_20230830_213632_Adblock Browser.jpg

I could probably list it for $10500 and take $10k. I owe about $7k on it.

I take the $3k and put it down on this:

    Screenshot_20230830_213328_Adblock Browser.jpg

Payment would be roughly the same, insurance would go up some. I'd really prefer it to be the same color as mine, but this market sucks.

I'll be the voice of reason for once.

What's the reason? Do you NEED a new bike or does the new one just have something you want?

I'll also argue that the payment being the same means exactly nothing if the terms are different.

I think I’m just about done with the mountain hatch panel I put on. Going to try some 1/4” HDPE instead and just do the access panel part instead of the entire tailgate. Should be less than 1/4 of the weight and would allow me to remove the metal cover too.

    Damn, bikes are so cheap.
Meanwhile a SXS you can't even drive on the street costs 20k & up

Yeah I hate how heavy my tailgate is now. I wish someone made a diamond plate aluminum for our tails gates, like all the trucks around here used to have in the 90's

I think you just answered your own question with those three words.

If the market sucks, why bother?

... but for a longer timeframe?

... so even more monthly out-of-pocket?

"To what end/gain?" is my question, since all I see above is basically: Loss, loss, loss.

Finnair just cancelled our flight to Helsinki that we've had booked since January. My wife has been looking forward to this trip all year. Prior to this they already changed our flight schedule 3 times and caused her a ton of work rescheduling things. She spent hours on the phone with them.

The only reason we bought these tickets was because they were a great deal. I don't know what the lesson is here. Maybe don't buy plane tickets so far in advance? Don't go to the artic circle in November? I have a feeling that it's going to be too expensive now to find other flights there. :annoyed:

Yep. Probably a higher interest rate now. Maybe even a lot higher.

No clue. The email just says your flight is cancelled and we cannot offer a different flight. The last time, they pushed out our flight and we were going to have a 50 hour layover in Dallas. I feel like it's a sign we shouldn't go.

Side by sides are ridiculously overpriced. They cost more than our trucks. I've noticed dirt bikes are way down in value too. Now that everyone has burned through their COVID savings it seems like some of these toys are starting to level off in price. Demand has dropped. @Sunnier pointed out how our trucks aren't worth as much either.

They're clear. They are rock magnets. $511 windshields break just like $180 windshields.

Insurance is covering it. & they all break, but some are a bit green, some chip easier than others. Some are made of gorilla glass...

I think that's a good price for OEM glass.

The only thing I "know" about glass is that the tint is correlated to your vehicle interior; if you have black or grey, one version is specified; if you have tan, a different version.

It occurs to me, I have no guesses what tinting Toyota used for Dave's rare blue grey colour.

I'm dying for someone to actually make one of these purchases just so we can see what f'n brand is actually making OEM glass these days.

Toyota always silkscreens their logo onto the glass, but just beneath it is the actual manufacturer's name. I'm dying to see a legit, purchased-in-the-last-24-months windshield for an '05-'06 AC or RC truck so we all know which brand to buy, likely at half the cost.

Loan amount would be the same as what I got for the 660: about $10k for 6 years @ 2.5%. I'd be putting 3k down on this so about $10k on the loan.

It's about 75% want, 25% need. I'm getting fatter therfore I need more hp.(end sarcasm) The bike I want is a tuono 1100 v4. 180 hp vs my 100. So I'm not downgrading or even going straight across. It'd be like going from an AC v6 to an AC v8, but the payment stays the same.

$250. The shop in pasadena is $180. The tint for cab & cap will probably be $800.

i want the silver metallic tint. Gimme a good excuse to keep my glass clean. & the clear ceramic uv stuff for the front.

Not trying to be a smartass here, more like the good angel on your shoulder, but .... it's cheaper to lose weight, honestly, suddenly that 25% of rationale vaporizes. And it'll keep you riding longer, too. And save you significantly by cutting food/booze costs, less body mass = you get fucked up faster on less product.

PS - all the meds they had me on recently for this goddamn cyst forced me to cut back heavily on drinking. I've probably had less than 15 beers since this started in early/mid-July, and went for at least 2 weeks with no beer at all.

I'm finally logging weight in the upper 170s when I wakeup in the morning, before triple-S (shit, shower shave). I've been floundering in the mid-upper 180s for years now. I didn't really change anything else, just cut back on the couple of high-grav beers I was having basically daily. The first week was rough, seeing the cans in the fridge, walking past the beer aisle in the store.

I imagine if I actually got back to lifting anything, since I haven't been doing that the last 6 weeks either, I could probably get into the lower 170s, where my better 3/4 would like me to be.

Anyway, just talking out of my ass here.

Can only speak of the 2 we’ve had put in last 10 years via insurance….2017 High and 04 Tundra. Company was Jack Morris and both times they put in PGW glass(Pittsburg Glass Works), a company that’s been around for ages dealing with glass. Given our neck of the woods with our log/gravel trucks, both have held up real well.

I’d also ask what DOT-xxx number they use. Some in the DOT list attached have China made glass

Hahaha! It always sucks to do what's necessary to drop weight, but I'll say it, it gets harder as we age; so there's no better time than now to get it done, especially if you're noticing it affecting day-to-day life.

negs. You dont have to lose weight, but you're gonna wanna be in shape. Your arms will get 'noodley'. But bring whatcha got some weekend, and we'll tagteam the 3 sisters for about 90 mins each way, about an hour away. Counting corners & finding rhythms. All a 1100 will do it get you into a tight spot quicker. Spend $3-4k on a dualsport to load into the truck. That'll get one that can wheelie. And what more do you need?

if you like terrible ideas, i'm thinking about swapping parts this winter & building a tall xb9r with an xb12 engine, and a lowered xb12x with a 9r engine and selling the ulysses.
