Nice. I'm curious what they used to get there, looks like a solid 5/7 drop, maybe 4/6. Agree with @DJenerated's take on it.

I'd have a hard time justifying that, knowing you could basically pull off the same - probably more easily - with a similar year/era Taco and only waste half the gas while still having a decent sized bed.

Did some truck stuff cleaning out the jungle in our alley today. Camper shell sucks for this kind of work but I had one of my little helpers so it wasn’t too bad.

Father in law a few blocks away is about to buy a trailer, I’m pumped! I have nowhere to keep one or I’d have pulled the trigger long ago.

Looks like the typical alley/easement you find all over my area.

Gah, you guys have Hackberries over there too? Those seeds are like gd peppercorns. And so many volunteers.

Do you guys get hardcore black soot under the mature ones from Chinese Wooly Aphids? I've got stand in my backyard, Hackberry is all over ATL. We started fighting with the wooly aphids about 10-12 years ago. Anything under mature trees, whether it's masonry wall, concrete, your car, they end up with a thin film of mildew growing on the sugarwater the aphids piss out. I guess they came over on ocean shipment crates from PRC and have no natural predators. About the only thing that controls them is the system killer Bayer makes, but it kills any bugs/pollinators indiscriminantly.

    Such a PITA.

I can't believe how big they made this hole. It's huge. Now there is zero sign of any yellow jackets though. Is it normal for them to abandon a nest so quickly?

Yep. If you want to pave or asphalt yours it’s at your own cost and you have to maintain it. No one in our block uses it.

Yeah they’re great trees for birds and stuff, but the birds love to crap their seeds along every fence line in Texas. Ineradicable unless you get the roots :/
Not widespread but yeah it’s here too.

I saw this the other day, riding shotgun in a Lyft after dropping off Hulk:IMG_6135.jpg

We caught the red light and couldn't follow; I let the Lyft driver know how relieved I was.

Passed them 2 blocks ahead, pulled over trying to secure it. Taking a little extra time to ensure no one gets killed is always a great plan.

Heading up to T2S this year, there was a king size matress in lane 1. I was a ok distance behind a box truck in front of me that swerved, but I didn’t completely miss it. There was a cop in the HOV lane 1/4-1/2 mile back, that HAD to have seen my epic body roll as I tried to swerve around it with a car right next to me……. He kept on going like he didn’t see anything.

I’m pretty sure they don’t dig their own holes, they find old holes from gophers and such. Maybe they decided it wasn’t a good place and left before getting established?
