I an glad that we didn't win any of the pertinent things like car seats and strollers as it seemed like half the county was there and most were about to pop.

They need that stuff more than us at this stage in the game.

We are 7 weeks 5 days along.

 

Y'all gonna register at some point? What retail stores are nearby?

 

I wouldn't be broadcasting before 14 weeks, but that's just me. We lost #2 just shy of 4 months, about 2 weeks after we told the folks. No heartbeat. No clear reason why, I suspect stress, based on what we had going on at the time.

Probably a lot easier at y'alls age. We were rolling up on 40 at the time. But just sayin'. I'm rooting all goes well for y'all, not trying to rain on parades.

 

I can definitely send you some stuff, I’m not sure if we have infant stuff anymore, but other things that will come in handy.
Also target does this twice a year, one just passed; turn in any old car seat and receive 15-25% off coupon for a new car seat in the store. Next one is in the fall.

 

We are working on that. Tosh has point on that. Retail stores nearby? Walmart. Target. Big lots. Uhmmm shit, I can't think of any more.

I hear ya. I have removed as much stress from her as I possibly can. The work environment she was in was HORRIBLE. I took a look at her finances, and realized I can swing both for a while and still accomplish what needs doing to build. This allows her to get more assistance. WIC, and other state assistance.

She couldn't even walk to the break room on break times. First trimester is a rough one for her. We were all large infants. Hell, I was almost 10 lbs. If I hadn't pissed on the doctor as soon as I was born, I would have been. I think I was 9lbs 14 Oz. Three ounces of piss. They measured.

Google says that it's an extra 300 calories a day, but to grow one of us... it's gotta be an extra 600 calories.

Anyways, I have no worry of stress on her. All my girl has to worry about right now is what video game she wants to play, what food she wants to eat, and when she can see her/our 9yo.

 

I didn't know that about Target having a trade in thing.

Another good option is Costco because they've got convertible seats that work from just-born to whatever the upper required age/weight limits.

Or, what we did, which was easy when we were in the one parent drops off to daycare/ the other picks up phase... was, hot up a used baby gear place. We got a stroller that the 2 matching car seats snapped into, and bases for that seat that stayed in our cars, one each. SOOO much easier than trying to do a full car seat install every time-- and less expensive than everything separate.

LOL! We also never bought a crib. Pack and Play from Target was perfect, and we took it in a few trips easily enough. It had a changing table attached over one end. We did not feel the need to but all the "stuff". Cool to grab the actual necessities during 3rd trimester, but wait in most stuff til you get home... visitors cycle through with baby gifts, and you figure out what you *actually* need.

 

I plan on sending one of our most used items that seemed super stupid when we first got it, but definitely paid itself off. The whipe warmer! Who wants a cold wipe? Not me! Who wants a warm toasty wipe? ME!!!!

Uhhh. Physical activity and staying mentally and socially active are the healthiest prep for baking a kid, and being a healthy mom. It's cool you're proving your qualifications as a knight in shining armor... and... long-term partnerships benefit a lot from shared equity. So... don't be so chivalrous that the partnership balance goes wonky.

It's cool you've got a couple of retailers nearby; registering at 2 gives people choices. You know, 'cause some'll like one but not the other, whatever.

I swear my local stealership sucks so bad. Got the parts list together to re-do my axle seals/ freshen up the rear axle plus a tailgate handle and ac control knob

McGeorge came in like $475 for everything
Local dealer: $760 something.

I even ask the dude if they still price match. He gives me that price and I was like uhhh dude that’s not even close. Called off a couple prices and he’s like ya we can’t touch that. I was like no problem I’ll order from McGeorge .

 

To add to my above post, what brake shoes y’all go with in the rear? Oem? Brembo? Powerstrop?

 

Not sure what my mechanic put in there when I asked for a rear brake job. I just know something was wrong and the truck was vibrating on braking. It got worse over the course of my T2S journey. Luckily they swapped the bad part out for a good one, no additional charge for the part and the labor. And I got it back just in time for Jamboree

 

I used a Powerstop kit on the DC which has worked flawlessly. I haven't had drum or spring kit problems that I have heard of in some reviews.

This one fits 05 DC - It's for "tow/offroad" whatever that means for the kit, maybe different shoes. i did notice that following different distributor links showed different prices so if you go that way check the model number to be sure you have a good hyperlink.

I didn't see if mention a specific wheel side needed to clear the brakes. Makes me think they might work with 16's.

 

Well the rears are no problem with 16. I have lexus up front that want's 17. I didn't look into the fronts powerstop. But @des2mtn would know I bet.

 

Yeah, Rick Hendricks is about the only stealership north of I-20 that can remotely get close to McGeorge when ordering online. I've tried a lot of the other Toyota dealerships, both north, south, and east of town, and, with exception of Marietta who is only a couple percent more than Rick Hendricks, most are only giving maybe 5% on most parts if you're lucky.

 

The Powerstop stuff that's advertised as fitting our trucks should work since they're OEM fitment, so yeah the drum stuff will fit 16's. I'd shy away from their rotors and pads personally, Z36 rotors warped on me after 30k; no comment on their drums/ shoes.

I had a much longer reply typed out about the size differences for front rotors, but I accidentally deleted it.

 

@alb1k glad to see a good review on that power stop kit. I had about marked it off the list. I’m still not 100 percent I’m gonna change my drums out.

@DJenerated I kinda wish I’d have went with 17s when I bought my methods. I may eventually swap but who knows

@shifty` toyota of Cleveland has matched McGeorge in the past on stuff. Idk they couldn’t touch the prices this time. I’m alright waiting for like $200 bucks. Their price wasn’t counting taxes neither.

 

I still like my PS z23 pads. & believe drilled/slotted rotors are gimmicks. Some engineer stayed up late at night trying to figure out how to make extra brake dust.

 

Got my window trim swapped out. Anyone want the old stuff before I toss it? Broke most of the white clips and the D side is peely but the P side is clean, just baked like Bill Maher.

Also got the driver latch in. That one was pricey and while it’s better than before, I think the old one was in ok condition. Anyone want it? SR5 power lock. I think that door is just a bit off true hence doesn’t latch beautifully.

I'll work on the passenger latch next, so it'd be ideal to send someone my old takeoff latches in case they can figure out a cleanup and recycle plan or maybe try to upgrade to power locks on a truck which didn't come with them (no idea what else is needed parts-wise)

 

Yeah I also wish I went with 17's. But my buddy wanted to sell me his KMC 16's for super cheap and I had already spent most my money on suspension parts. So I been kicking myself ever since, because they're 108mm bore (probably for GM) instead of 106mm, so my circular TRD center caps don't fit my wheels. Which has been bumming me out for years. 35's and 17's will grace my Tundra some day.
