I'm seeing hoods for way cheaper (maybe without shipping costs) if I just Google 07 (can't remember your year) corolla hood. What's special about the one you found?

Damn dude. That brings back some memories. I had to go digging through photobucket to find these.

    wreck1.jpg

    wreck2.jpg

This was back in 09, not long after I bought it. 05 corolla xrs with 32k miles. My wife pulled into a mickey Ds and a land rover backed out, then continued backing up into her. Their insurance got it fixed though.

    fixed3.jpg

I also found a pic from 13 when I first got Ironman. He was a young man back then with only 291k miles.

Glad you're OK homie. Stay safe out there AND QUIT DRIVING ON THAT FUCKING ROAD.

@Tundra2 the deer are not going to leave the area. You’re not going to stop using whatever roads get you where you’re going. You need armor my friend. You can’t keep driving stock vehicles into a war zone. Heavy high clearance solid steel bumper would cause the enemy to explode on impact. That’s what the deer are at this point right? Instead of swerve to avoid, you punch the gas and run the fuckers down. Perhaps a crosshair hood ornament….

Thanks buddy. We will see at T2S how structurally sound I am. Aesthetics could use some help but I’m learning stuff as I go here.

On another note, I hope you like the tactical gussets :yes:D8D6BCE1-ED71-4C50-B491-E89AA8E33F87.jpg

I do indeed. Only question I have is; (besides asking if you ran out of wire as the tip is open but I see that's already been addressed) were the gussets purchased or fabricated? It really makes no difference, just curious as a dead cat I am. Also not sure if you have checked out Ruff Stuff, but it's a company that sells all kinds of builder/fabricator bits like gussets, tabs, mounts, etc.

You’ll like this. When I bought the tactical gussets, I sold them out by getting eight. I was gonna put four a side, which leaves the two center uprights with only one each. I showed it to my wife and she was like, you have to have two tactical gussets on those center uprights. All I have are standard gussets. She’s like, can you make tactical? So, here I am on Friday night at 9 o’clock drilling and grinding gussets, lol. I love my wife - when you’re right, you’re right. She’s right.

I went to my local supply shop, M&K metals. I took all eight tactical (lol) but also grabbed four standard. Only problem is the standard’s are a quarter inch and the tactical‘s are 3/16 of an inch. Not a big problem, but I’ll try some creative beveling. The average person would never notice. And yeah, she’s a riot.

I missed this earlier. Yup, ran out of wire. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of Ruff Stuff, maybe even used them. I’ll have to look at them again though. I can’t remember their stuff. Maybe it was a poly bushing I got. Anyway, yew!

See, I was gonna say Tooley Hill clearly has a cluster of deer & at some point sensible driving dictates driving slowly in that area knowing it's full of wandering zombie meatbags. Who has enough time in the day to keep rebuilding vehicles? Driving slower just gets you more free time in life around Tooley Hill.

You need to be careful with aftermarket parts. I’ve seen plenty my father has used to repair vehicles and sometimes there can be significant work to make them fit unlike OEM. I would dry fit them to make sure things line up once you straighten the subframe and interior panels.

Still, he should check for fitment. Sometimes it’s just easier to work with used parts instead. Not to mention a lot of aftermarket panel manufacturers use thinner steel to make it.
