Damn! I should've bought one way back when for $900 new. But then again, I'm not a cap guy. I don't fit the profile whatever that is. :D

folks that like to drive around in big trucks with no visiblity. :)
I've bought, sold, thought different could be better, bought, removed caps on the Tacoma. I'm happy at trifold - covered & visibility.

I think in the past before rear camera tech, I didn’t like the idea of a cap to hinder my backup visibility. Brother had one with a fisheye lens stuck on the rear glass to see but I didn’t care for it myself.

What's with the fitment? Gap between the cab and shell; and overhangs at the back.

I think they were in the process of removing it when they took the pic. I do wonder whether it's actually for a AC or DC though, since so many people tend to mix the two in their desperation since it's so close

See these depressions? That's what you call shrinkage in injection molding. Couple different things cause that.
    • Could be not enough pack and hold/keep on the injection stroke. (Pressure held on part after substrate is shot into mold cavity)
    • Not enough material in the charge per shot. So when the plastic cools in the mold it "shrinks" away from the mold cavity surface.
    • A mixture of the above issues.
    • Temperature issues. If the move side/stay side of the mold aren't set correctly it will cause the plastic to cool too fast resulting in shrinkage as well.

On the subject of camper shells I saw someone on the bookface the other day take an old boat trailer and built a sleeping pod with a decked area in front of it
camper idea.jpg .....I thought it was pretty damn slick, if I ever take the camper off I might try to replicate it or something similar.

I'm really starting to like the idea more, you don't even have to use a shell that fits your truck, quick marketplace search showed multiple camper shells for 75-200$ and a couple trailers for 250-600$.....I think as soon as I get settled in CA later this year this might be a fun project to embark upon.

Believe it or not, that Toyota/ServiceRite HVAC evap coil clean and vent refresh treatment I did the other day, whatever the cleaner is inside that smells strangely like Sprayway. It's uncanny. While driving my wife's car for the next two days, It was almost like someone just cleaned the windows. totally weird.
