I fixed mine with a rubberband drive belt a few years ago. Its due for another. I need $100 worth of new good albums.

'the hoard' had the right sized rubberband to drive it, and that was 3 years ago, and i'm gonna need something better than tom jones to be worth giving this thing its due.

IDK, I'd just be looking for the MP3 or AAL version of any album or song I'd like to listen.

I'm sure there's an app out there for anyone who wants the snap and crackle effect of a record to be added to their MP3 in order to make it sound like a record. :D

Yup. Recently, albums are outselling CD's.

I do not. Never saw the need for it unless it's a record you'll never find on a CD/tape.

For example, listening to a 78 record of something like "Peter and the Wolf". (although, if I look around enough, there's probably been remaster of it somewhere)

I've shown how many I have on here, and it's silly, but a good deal of it isn't digitized, and never was put out in the digital age. Granted, I used to DJ a long time ago, so I'm comfortable w/records, but still. Lots of people I know never quit listening. Not everything has been digitized at this point, unless you listen to pedestrian ass music.

Records are awesome. There's something nice about putting your hands on something. It's similar to why I like driving stick over automatic. Maybe you're more of an automatic guy. I'm not. And my desire to enjoy a more manual form of music listening doesn't make me a 'hipster'. Most hipsters I know are assholes.

Can you find me a digital copy of Pajama Slaver Dancers' album Cheap Is Real? In at least 192 bitrate, ideally 256 VBR, please.

Or the original version of Green River's Rehab Doll/Dry as a Bone that had the 1st version of 'Hanging Tree', not the re-recorded version that sounds like ass?

How about the Geto Boys' original self titled album that contains the original version of 'Gangsta of Love' which sampled Steve Miller Band? (I have it already, actually)

Sub Pop's compilations of 100 or 200 or The Grunge Years? Especially 100 and 200, I have The Grunge Years on CD still, and I think 200.

Kilo's A-Town Rush, but the original one from Arvis Records which had 'The Piz', which is where Snoop Dogg stole his signature 'izzle' from?

Any of the original Tresor albums (1, 2, 3) from NovaMute that primarily released in Germany?

I don't really expect you to hunt this stuff down. Point being, there are certain little bits of musical history that've been lost to time, failed popularity despite the talent, or lost to the digital world and streaming, making location of digitized versions a bitch. EDIT: Or lost to copyright/licensing issues, failure to clear samples, etc. For those of us who enjoyed and still want to listen, you need to find a means. :D

I guess the difference between you and I is that there isn't a lot of non-mainstream (those who haven't had at least one song on the radio back when people listened to that) artists I listen to unless someone hands me an album or it's a local artist.

Do these records stores let you listen to an album if you find something interesting or are you just supposed to know if it's something you want?

That's a good question. It depends on where you're shopping, and what you're shopping for.

Every used record store I've ever encountered lets you throw a record on a turntable and take it for a spin. Same with 'new' record stores that cater to DJs, but that's typically for dance, hip hop, and similar records. Bigger stores with sealed albums typically don't let you open up their retail copies on the floor, and don't have turntables laying around for you to try anyway.

Most of what I hunt out these days is used. And most of what's been pressed out during the last decade is garbage quality. For a while there, only two companies globally were making vinyl lacquer, and one was some Japanese dude making it in his freaking garage (cool story, bro). They're trying so hard to keep up with demand currently that you get some real B-grade pressings you'd only see from bootleg establishments.

I dunno. I'll go months sometimes without touching a single record, then go binge. In a world where everything is digitized or streamed, I still have full albums and/or songs I'd need to physically rip from vinyl if I want to listen to inside my car. It kinda makes listening on the turntable at home a special treat. YMMV. I'm probably just a hipster or something.

Yeah, that would one definition of a hipster. Generally I don’t buy an album unless it has 2 songs minimum that I like, so I really can’t jump on the hipster bandwagon unless I hear the album especially if I haven’t heard any of the band’s songs. At least with local bands, I hear them playing at a small venue to decide if I like their sounds.

For most of the used records, I have to go into Boston and with the parking as bad as it is, that ain’t gonna happen willingly.

Well, let me tell you what to expect, since mine just arrived, intact, faster than I could've gotten at a local dealership. Serra of Birmingham did me right.

When they have your parts in from the local or regional warehouse and are ready to package the complete order, you'll get an 'order status update' email from 'mbuckner' notifying it's shipped.

If they ship via UPS like mine was, within 12-24 hours of that email, you should get a mysterious email from UPS with delivery info. Mine showed from "NA". I assumed it was from Serra, but wasn't sure, because it was two packages :D

Anyways it got here. And it's all intact, everything I ordered and expected, good boxing.

Oh, and I also got an order from DensoParts.com/TheSparkPlugs.com with cabin filter and air filter for my wife's '20 Highlander which went well. Their shipping rates are ass, but they're the only place that had these in stock. I found them using Denso's part lookup tool.

I'd shop with both of them again, any time.

Do you have time to fight with that counter? If not (not) then go with the Tundra. Aren't your guys small enough that the passenger airbag should be turned off anyway? I know there's a weight minimum before you're supposed to allow them to get punched in the face. Course both could go in the back seat of the Tundra.

All this talk of music and when I think about it, I haven’t bought a CD in years.

I think my last CD was Styx Greatest Hits over 7 years ago. Although, I’ve been waiting for Megadeath’s Greatest Hits to hit the bargain bin at Walmart for $5-$7.

My first cassette was Blue Oyster Cult back in 83 and I still have it. Wait, I think it was 81. Yep, that’s when Fire of Unknown Origin came out. I was still a kid.

Wife wants me to put the counter in the 2016. I think I’ll be ok on payload but it’ll be heavy. With tailgate down maybe 2-3’ of overhang? I’ll look up what the rules are for red flags.

In the end, does it matter which one you take? Both are capable and far ahead of most of the people in the world.

I went the other way. My Taco is RC with bench seat. The Tundra got the back seat & those stupid suicide doors.
For me Tundra is luxo-barge truck, Taco is short narrow trail rig.

We seem to have come to our trucks from opposite perspectives.

Jajaja! I still do that too. I like "owning" music I buy. Having to keep paying for a streaming service to access "my" media makes no kind of logical sense.
