The wife says yes. Then backtracked into an I think so as she is confused between the Tundra, Taco, her previous TC and the Sequoia. Ill look for you tomorrow when its not cold dark and snowing to double check. I dont drive it enough to even think I know.

Yeah, as does my ‘05 SR Taco (which had intermittent wipers, I bet that was an option though)

If I were smart I might try a swap and see if it works. There are a lot of similarities between the two trucks.

My next planned mod is installing fog lights. Since I plunked down cash and they really should wire right up and plug right in. I’ve resorted to ten minute mods because those are the only ones I can finish these days.

Please do. Although, I know how little time we all have to do frivilous experiments like that these days.

    Actually could use some advice.

I’m taking both boys to my bro in laws this weekend, 4h each way.

since the ‘05 has only two seats, that is a no go.

it’s either Tundra w no pass airbag (but my kids are small so maybe that’s actually correct since the ‘05 auto airbag says off when they are in the passenger seat) or the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

Third Gen would be more comfortable. Tundra could fit the countertop I’d love to get to my bro in law

I could try to load the counter into the 3rd Gen and see. I think it’s close to a full 4x8. And 600 lbs but I think we are fine on payload.

    what to do…

British rappers are weird. I'm not even sure what the hell that was. He's wearing a full snow suit in Miami and telling people he's not hot. Then makes a bunch of weird Batman-esque video game gun noises for most of the video? Cause he's hard? I'm not sure why it took me so long to look away.

    I'd probably 1GT it.

Yeah, don't get me started. That video turned into a meme for a reason.

I don't really appreciate grime/Road Rap out of the UK either. His is a way more mainstream than a lot I've of road rap I've heard.

Someone learn me about inverters? Got someing i can read about pure sine vs modified sine? My brother has my electric griddle, but i found my electric perculator, its 950w. Can the truck handle a 2kw inverter? 1kw? Should i add an extra battery and isolator?

explain it to me like im 5.

or dont, seems like the interwebs says to buy a 2kw generator and not to tax the trucks electrical.

Interesting, I was leaning 3GTaco but if the smart guy says the 1GT is safe, that's pretty tempting to get this counter outta here. I could leave a bit earlier. The boys do like the bench seat and more stuff to see.

That increases the priority of getting the fog lights in and maybe swapping passenger headlight, doing the new headlight harness and doing osram 100w bulbs.

I was contemplating using the old harness for fog lights, since I have two spots. Just not sure the 35w led pods would benefit in any way from a harness, there already is one fog relay. But for the second, if I did an identical switch, I'd need some sort of harness for the short term anyway.

For a heating element, either a pure sine or simulated sinusoid via a step function (looks like little steps to approximate a sine wave) should be sufficient unless there's a step down transformer like most electrical circuits have. Personally, I've never seen one for heating elements but just to be aware.

Even so, a simulated sinewave vs. a square wave with a rms equivalent value to 110-120 Vrms should still work. It's when you get into a square wave you get funky harmonic effects and can sometimes hear an audible high pitch noise coming from the power circuit (i.e. an HDTV).

Ideally, you want a pure sinewave so you never have to worry about any issue but they're obviously more expensive (at least for a UPS).

BTW, don't use the griddle unless you have the truck running in idle as it'll quickly drain down the battery. The 100-130 amp alternator should be fine since it's at 100A*12V= 1200W delivered although I would double check that the 100A alternator isn't the peak amperage rating because you'll have a problem with 950 watts if that's the case.

    1. Run truck in idle
    2. Turn on headlights

I've verified mine as the 130a, but its old enough to drink. Im not the type to run a generator in camp all night.

I've got a spare 840cca 27series battery and some jumper cables. What if i jumpered it up to 24v and ran an inverter off that? Better flow for heating elements?

eff it. I've got a gas stove, and my white-gas catalytic heaters still work. I'll see if i can get the new tents together. And if all goes well, i'll try again after the beer is gone.

I know a guy I used to work with who has a hybrid-camry. He runs his inverter off the lithium battery whenever there's a power outage. Never had an issue, but obviously he's got more of a battery than we do.

If running an inverter off your battery also bear in mind that conventional batteries don’t tolerate discharging below about 50% so you’ll get about an hour on a 2Kw inverter on a 400Ah battery

This aint the prime battery, but i wouldnt hate hanging a beefy ev battery where my spare sits. I mean, i also do the rc car thing, and those chargers are 110v, so it makes sense to have a doohickey. If i mounted jumper cables, an inverter, and a 12v/usb/usb-c adapter to a battery box i should be able to wire it so i can overload it without any feedback to the truck.

That's cheap. I'm willing to get it's 10Gs on a Ford Lightning or Rivian Pickup although they are completely electric.

Buddy of mine got a decent Numark turntable for free, but wasn't doing anything when you hit the play button. He asked if I could fix it. All lights coming on. Buttons for 33/45 rpm worked. Needle was outputting noise to the RCAs. But nothing happens if you tap PLAY. So I cracked it open to check the guts out, see what the voltage was on the motor, see if I could throw direct power to it and confirm if fried.

    upload_2023-3-15_14-52-30.jpg
Flipped over the control board with the start/33/45 buttons to see what they were using. Sure enough, simple microswitches. They seemed to be moving freely, clicking, doing what they're supposed to.

    upload_2023-3-15_14-59-10.jpg

Motor looked fine but was 24v. I didn't want to waste time to jimmy together a 24V battery to test, so I jumpered the trace for the PLAY microswitch and .... ding ding ding! We have rotation. Hit the microswitch with some Deoxit D5, worked it in really good, blew it back out again. BOOM. Button works again. Super weird, but that's one turntable salvaged, and I get free beer today for my 10 minutes of work. I'll eventually tear it back down, clean the speed pots, F5 the speed slider, and dial in the speeds.
