Cut some scrap flashing, throw some putty around the hole, and then rivet the flashing over the hole. Unless it’s completely toast that should hold you for a long time

 

Asparagus and bacon, yeah! I'm sure Shifty knows, the female shoots are tender but should be trimmed to the ground so the plant can continue producing the hearty stalks. When temps get warmer, let the plant produce seeds which can be spread to make more asparagus.

Our orchard produced an abundance of volunteer asparagus which spread from cultivation and mowing. We would collect 1-2 bushels in spring and fall. Then blanch, vacuum package and freeze for later use.

We love asparagus. Had some this evening along with venison loin.

 

Not true. We bought root bunches from the big blue hardware store, planted as advised, and had our first harvest the following year (~14 months).

It can be weedy, but it doesn't like competition, so it's a bit weird. It spreads via underground roots, and gets really tall. Most people, when they see it totally unfurled, would have no clue it's asparagus. Each little nodule you see in my up-close pic will unfurl into a huge, airy frond which looks like fennel but green. It gets ~5ft tall.

If you've never had fresh asparagus, it's pretty incredible. You can literally snap the end off and eat it as-is, it's not fibrous at all. If you put them in the microwave for 2-3 seconds, it's equivalent to blanching, they go limp and are very sweet. It's pretty wild.

Yup! We have very limited space to grow. I basically have (3) 3'x3' stackstone beds and (1) 3'x5' bed on the side yard to grow everything. Asparagus and strawberries are co-mingling in one of the 3x3. I need to clean up the strawberries, they tend to migrate.

Here in NW GA, you only get one harvest window, over about 2-4 weeks, starting right about now. After that, we let it unfurl into some 2x3 galvanized fence for vertical support to support growth, seeding. You can clearly tell males and females apart, the females create berries.

I've got some MP3s (mostly albums) I can kick your way if it's interesting. Mostly Magic Mike/Royal Posse, but I'm pretty sure I've got a few others. Believe it or not, a lot of the old bass stuff is on Spotify too. I know Magic Mike, PEB, Bass 305, and Quad Force was on there as recently as the pandemic.

A lot of the better Miami sound stuff was published on Pandisc, but less bass CDs and more freestyle. I think Bass 305 had their own label, and Magic Mike was publishing out of Orlando w/Cheetah. Pulling pics off the phone, I remembered I failed to share this from the recent trip to Costa Rica. In Cohuitta, near the preserve. I've never seen a double cab Taco before, at least not that I can recall. Saw this and thought it was pretty rad, despite looking goofy af.

I was curious about the front, because it looked like what I picture in the early 1st gen Tacos. But the bed looked like the old Toyota pickups.

Plenty of Hilux all over down there. Actually some really cool vehicles in general. Lots of 2nd gen Excel (Hyundai) Galloper IIs which have a Land-Cruiser-shagged-a-Land-Rover vibe.

Y'all I might not come back from London. Daughter wanted to see a concert at The O2 so I'm hanging out with the wife at the Amex lounge.

 

Friend just called me for emergency help. On fumes with sprinter van, pulled into gas station and put 0.3 gallons of unleaded in b/c 3 kids and chaos. She is not sure what to do now, fill with diesel and say f it and hope or call in favors to get kids off to other places and tow the van somewhere to a place to drain it or attempt DIY siphon to some tank but you'd want someone qualified to do that. Her husband is home with the 4th kid (yeah, too many kids).

Anyone want to opine on risk level here? I will google what the tank capacity is.

Looks like 24.5 gallon diesel tank. Say 2 gallons in the tank plus the 0.3 of gasoline so 20-22 added. Let's do the math on % of gasoline vs diesel.

Oh, I guess it's just 0.3 / 24.5 or let's call it 24 to shutoff, since we know only 0.3 of gasoline. That's a bit over 1%.

 

I would think you SHOULD be ok to fill with diesel but I could be wrong here. Very small percentage if it’s only .3 a gal of gasoline.

Fill with Diesel. In the NE people add a little gas to diesel when it’s really cold to prevent gelling. No harm

Now is actually the time to plant if you're gonna do it, per KY's extension service. They've got a nice PDF covering all the shit you need to know. (link) I'm sure there's probably YouTube videos on it too, I just tend to favor our ag folks.

You'd be surprised, check for asparagus crowns (root bundles) the garden center at big orange or big blue if they've got hardware stores near you. You may also find at Tractor Supply, or your local Ace Hardware, or other ag store.

GC's helper (happens to be female). She did the new insulation this morning which was so nice b/c I'm sick of being itchy from that s (took all the old stuff out / in / out / in a bunch over the past few weeks and finally to the dump).

I have a puffy that is an itchy puffy now, washed it twice, still all fiberglassed.

She's doing some moisture barrier before they install the window since they needed the plywood to frame the other window as today is drywall install day.

 

Are they pissed about the tire tracks in your yard? I'm confused and feeling like you're playing a hunt-for-hidden-shit game with your picture.

 

A cup or two of Vinegar in your bath water gets rid of the itch. Somehow it draws out the bits of insulation that are irritating you. One of my first jobs was making AC ductwork and dealing with insulation. Bathe well, drain the tub, and shower off the vinegar smell.

Is there a limit to the number of vehicles you can have per the HOA terms? Is there any definition saying all vehicles must be regularly driven and/or operational, or is current registration ample?

HOA can pretty much come up with whatever petty bullshit rules they want to spite you, so I wouldn't push your luck. At the same time, as a contributor to the HOA and a community member under the HOA, you have a right to request the terms and conditions at any point to ensure you're in compliance.

 

Limit -- to my knowledge no, just can't park on the street overnight. I could see someone considering adding a clause about not parking on your lawn. This specific community, that specific rule, it would likely make sense. We have the top 3 worst driveways, ours is short and steep, others are steeper but longer, some are insanely awesome and I'm way jealous.
Regular driving -- I drive each as frequently as I can. Because I want to keep them operational, etc. I let my youngest pick the rig for driving to school while his cousin is gone. The sister in law is particular about car seats for her kid, so I honor that and take the DC when I'm going to her place but they are out of town right now. All reg is new/clean/current and plates are brand new of course. I think maybe the bumpers on the Tundra are seen as a little WT? They are "aggressive" looking. I have a winch fairlead (still need to install the winch) and front plate sticks out in front with a flip up. So I try to park it nose in.

I think the city has limits on driveway width?
"Driveway Widths. Driveways shall conform to the minimum width requirements of LOC 15.06.610 (Oregon Fire Code Adopted) and LOC Article 50.55, Parking Standards."

Right now our driveway is 3 bays wide and perpendicular to street, feeding straight to the garage. So adding on the side might hit some code / enforcement.
