So, first drive in my mobile dumpster since loading it with trash and indeed, turning off passenger airbag with key shows no SRS light on the dash. I guess that’s the cheapest “solution” :)

Also isolates where in the circuit shit is broke, eh? I haven't looked at the EWD, but I presume if shutting off the passenger side of the circuit makes the light go dark, it's clearly on the passenger side airbag, eh?

Agree. Nice that the dealership info matches observations. Hard to know how much to trust them but so far they’ve been right twice.

I feel you on that one. I was in the same boat with the basement overhaul. I've been getting so much stuff done on the weekends it's not even funny. And that's even with snoozing here or there if I feel like it.

Unfortunately, yesterday and today I had a huge honey-do list, so ... I couldn't focus all my energy on the truck.

At least I got the rear diff fluid changed. And I drove again for ~30 miles today. Zero chatter now. Incredible. But I'm stoked it's done. Just wish I'd have gotten the rear shocks swapped. I'm probably going to need to break out suspension into 3 pieces. Rears one day. COs and extended links another day. Then UCA another day. I'd love to do it all at once, but there's no way in hell I'm going to get that much contiguous time. Soccer season starting. Saturday mornings will be lost soon.

    Yay to no chatter!

I am pretty sure the water on the passenger husky mat is cowl leak. Since it’s been sitting for a week.

Thanks. I'll have to bite the bullet and get it done right. The tundra is now 20 years old and I'd like to keep it another 10. It looks like Summit Racing has cat back systems but none with the resonator. I'd like to get something close to stock and at least as quiet.

There's an independent muffler shop in town that did work on my '85 SR5, so I'll take it to them. They welded everything and I notice the weld areas are rusting. So, I'm inclined to have them go with a stock bolt together system from a local supplier like NAPA.

    Would you do it differently?

You won’t get a bolt together system in stainless steel unless it’s OEM.

With regard to the rust, I also think they typically use a mild steel welding feed wire. You might ask if they can use a stainless steel alloy one that won’t rust as quick. I just don’t know if they’d make you pay for the whole roll or what it costs for that matter. Others here who weld regularly could give you details.

Ah. Nudge nudge for me. I need to dig my bin and see if I bought any extra cowl clips too. I don't remember.

e-Recycle event to purge all the crap at work is coming in 17 days. I'll pull the rack and shelves this week to get that shipped out, with the cowl fasteners.

I think I may prefer PHM's method of fixing the fasteners, versus buying new ones.

Checked out SCS. I actually really like the general styling of the Gen5. Has old school throw-back appeal. Lacks that faux bead lock, but I also like BR6 and SR8.

Part that sucks: No gold finishes? I'll post some pics. I'd love to get the BR6 in the exact finish shown here. But the color option isn't on the BR6 page. Odd.

Why do some manuf'ers list the metric size, others list the imperial? (5.5 vs. 139.7)

Nevermind. Can't trust the pictures on the site. They've been edited and the hue/saturation is tweaked to make the color look 'off'. Here's the Br6 in bronze. Clearly in this reply, they look similar to the pic. But mounted in sunlight they look too dark for me.

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/fs-scs-br6’s-wheels-sold.13932/#post-155953

I'll hafta hunt out the SR8 in gold IRL to see if it's actually a bit more muted/less yellow-orange. EDIT: Nevermind. Gold isn't an option once again. How weird. Why picture something on your website if you actually don't sell it?! Or wait, maybe they did, ...

Thanks much, Jack. You and others here have a wealth of knowledge. I've been a shade tree mechanic for ~60 years but I keep learning from you fellas. And you save me $$$. I didn't know the OEM system is stainless--it looks so rusty and I live in a low rust state.

Do the non-stainless shop parts fail much sooner? Would they last 10+ years?

I'll look further into the custom stainless options, and call Summit and other companies about the complete system.

I bought custom tuned stainless exhausts for my sports cars and a beemer R100RS, and I loved them. But the tundra is a long distance tripper where I value quiet.

I made my own custom header back exhaust system with aluminized steel, but I also live in a super dry environment. Painted them black and called it a day

    funny how the mind works.
I somehow thought they were a German band. So, when they music started & the singing started - I was hearing German. Well 1/2 hearing while multi-tasking.... then my brain suddenly said NO! My conscious mind started paying attention - what'd I miss? what'd I miss? Then the internal dialogue went to 'are you sure that's German, sounds Swedish to me'. Quick google & Swedish it is.
It's like my mind was letting me listen to Swedish through a German filter for a little, then the internal test failed & my brain put it's foot down.

I dunno, my mind amuses me. Handy to be able to step aside & watch the nonsense it gets up to from the sidelines.

@Hummer Supposedly these aluminized steel exhaust systems last 5 years on average where I am with rust showing up in the first year. I can’t tell you how long they last where they don’t salt the roads. You may want to ask around. Stainless will give you a minimum of 10 years since they rust from the inside out with the collection of moisture in the exhaust. Outside it’s just surface rust.

SCS is a strange company. For a long time most of their wheels would be out of stock. They would sometimes offer special colors even though they couldn't keep their normal colors in stock. I bet that's why you're seeing colors they don't have for sale.

I bought my SCS Ray 10's used for $650. I hate the fake beadlock but I like the wheel design and the price was right. I replaced the shiny metal "beadlocks" with black nylon units that way they don't stand out as much.

Yeah, believe me, I saw this thread and was, like, "why in the hell would anyone recommend this company?" Especially as you get about 6-8 pages in and people are, like, "I just want wheels ... they're sold out in 2 minutes once announced". I don't like the claim "Tundra guys aren't 'ready' for some of these colors" from the manufacturer. Like, I'm specifically looking for some of these colors.

RE: faux beadlock ... reason I like it so much is it honestly makes it look like your tires are meatier than they really are. And I'm still mulling over going 275/70 vs. 285/80, so consider the faux beadlock as "shaving the bush to make things look bigger"

I'm tempted to say if you think you'll upgrade soon, I might be interested in your 3rd-hands but I'll try to reach SCS tomorrow, after Toytec, and figure out some options + if any specials are coming up. Sounds like you really need to hawk their IG feed if you want anything non-standard, or get 25 ppl interested w/a deposit for special colors.

Oh I misunderstood. I thought you were saying you didn't like them.
I doubt I'll sell these anytime soon. I need new leaf springs before I mess with wheels.

It actually looks like they have more wheels in stock now than they did when I was looking in 2020-2021.

Nope. I love faux beadlock. I honestly prefer whatever I buy has faux beadlock, in flat black, silver hardware. And I'd prefer something brighter in color, more like a white gold, bright gold, bright bronze, bright silver, or similar. No copper. No gunmetal. No heavy-yellow gold. No blues, reds, or blacks.

This is what happens when you don't pay attention to the asparagus bed. It's coming up a couple weeks early this year, but only in one of my two runs at the moment. It was enough to make a asparagus & bacon carbonara tonight.

Pardon my ignorance, but is asparagus almost like a weed? It sorta looks like it by how it grows so tall?

Thanks again. I suspect they will be durable enough in our dry CO climate (so long as they're not made in china). We don't have ocean corrosion, but now the hwy dept is spraying magnesium chloride on the roads instead of salt and sand. It works to melt snow, and probably to rust metal as bad as as it kills roadside vegetation. It's a huge problem leaving dead trees lining the highways, and that will cause fires to blow up throughout the west.

My girlfriend was just talking today about wanting to grow asparagus. Funny how that works. She says it takes 6 years after planting to get anything off of it. Not sure if that's always the case or not. Hadn't looked into it.
