Loved this the 1st time I saw it. Don't have a lift and our garage is inconvenient and cluttered enough I prefer not to fight to get the floor jack out. Just gave my dad the last two sprayer cans to use on his acreage to boot. It sucks, but this is my reality now, living in the city, with two kids . Polish off the 'ol wank strength

The tall-quart pump I had before, 35-40 pumps would push about a quart out, I just cant find it. The replacement I bought is about 100 pumps to push a quart. 360 pumps vs. 130-140 to fill a diff is a hell of a difference when you're laying under a truck.

    Nah. In the shop.

This works fine on the ground too, it's pressurized.

Just make the hose long enough to sit next to the truck/car/van. That and some kind of short bend/hook on the end so it stays in the trans/diff/etc.

I need to add a valve stem, then no more pumping needed.

I love when the heavy equipment is having to drag the lifted pavement princess piece of garbage out of the snow. This makes me very happy.

Can you imagine being a kid and making a shit ton of money plowing people’s driveways? Of course you need a backhoe though or some other piece of construction equipment.

Also, don’t they use chains in the mountains? What’s up with that?

I can't think of any scenario where I would prefer to use chains over a kinetic recovery rope. I did see the tow truck driver using chains towards the end of the video. I would love to buy a Yankum rope one day.

We'll be at black mountain on this trip coming up.
    Haven't been there before.

Haven't been to Windrock yet either. My problem is having days off to use it. Working 6 and 7 days a week make the money to buy it easy but the time to use it hard. Gonna try and find some balance.

I'm thinking he meant, chains on the tires, for better traction to avoid getting stuck. Not a chain instead of rope as rescue equipment.

The people who live or spend a good deal of time vacationing there I would imagine. You'd expect them to be prepared for a blizzard unless that storm is a once in a 100 year event. From the look of the amount of snow, I'm guessing no? :notsure:

Snow tracks would prepare me but I think there’s a speed limit on them that won’t allow me to drive highways.

It’s called chain control. 2wd vehicles need chains to proceed. 4x4 with snow tires are allowed to pass. People who live in the mountains have 4x4 or awd. If they don’t, they hitch rides. But, you can’t fix stupid.

So it’s just snow and doesn’t ice over on the hills where you may need chains for 4wd as well?

I’ve been over the pass on the Southside of Tahoe through Truckee and chains can be at times required for any vehicle. They would turn you around if you didn’t have them. 4x4 or not. I had chains for my Camry in the trunk, didn’t have them for the Acura. Thankfully they had the roads plowed and safe for traffic at that time and we passed without having to chain up.

Serious question. Snow tires with studs are less effective than tires with chains?

I couldn’t compare myself as I’ve only used chains in the past. I would think one benefit is you can go faster on studs than chains. I’ve seen them used in ice racing in the past.

Normally if chain control is requiring chains on 4x4’s, nobody should be driving. Caltrans makes exceptions if you’re heading home or an emergency.

False. Studded tires are far superior. Unless you’re in 2’ of freshies.

@daveeasa You should look into the Nokian retractable stud tires if you want one that can handle both plowed asphalt and slick conditions. They look pretty cool, but I’m guessing they aren’t cheap.

Anybody ever try to run paddle-tires in deep snow? Seems like it might be fun. Works for soft sand so why not, right?

    edit:
I mean - off the pavement of course
