I seldom disagree with Shifty, 'cause I don't know a fraction of what he knows about almost everything. But. I'd say get caster as far + as possible, then get the others as close to 0 as can get, without deleting those caster gains. It may be that you land near assassin's numbers that Shifty quoted, but there's no reason to offset the others on purpose. When was the last time you saw a roadway with enough crown to justify changing the way tread on a truck as wide as ours touches it...?

Yeah I was thinking caster should be even higher than those numbers he listed but I was too lazy to look for those old posts.

I actually agree with you, from a logical perspective, it makes total sense. Whether to compensate for road crown has triggered some heated arguments in my lifetime though

I openly admit now, as I have in the past: My forté is bagging/lowering/sport suspension. Lifting is new terrain for me, so I've been doing what I always do when I don't have much practical experience: I dig on other peoples practical experiences and feedback, probe, ask questions, and take notes. I've been keeping notes for the better part of a year all over to see what works for others, what doesn't work, and any time someone is confirming/re-confirming things are ideal, I'm jotting it down.

If you see me on here talking about lifting on these trucks, it's almost all recycled info. And I try not to speak confidently on anything unless I can either give a logical explanation, or I have practical experience. And if I don't feel 100% confident, or there may be some new info I don't have, I'll usually tag the source or resident expert, like I did in my last reply :D

Anyone have experience with Firestone Destination LE2 on their Tundra?
I couldn’t find anything useful on the forum searching, looks okay from general online reviews (for what that’s worth), but thought I’d ask here. They seem to be a stock tire Toyota put on a lot of recent Tacomas and 4Runners; I’m looking for different wheels and am seeing many with those tires in good condition.
Right now I’m on Geolander A/Ts, they’ve been great but are getting old. I do like 90% paved road driving, and the rest is mostly gravel roads, very infrequently a muddy field.

Stock LSD (pretty worn now) and Motul 90pa in mine. Zero chatter.

Caster doesn't change how the tread touches the roadway when going straight. Only when turning the wheels. It's the angle of the pivot points (front to back) that the suspension turns.

More caster/more angle allows the weight of the vehicle to push the tires towards center (when the numbers are even). Thats why more caster makes for heavier steering and better self centering.

Nah. Higher caster is good to a point (on our trucks). But past it, it just makes steering heavier.

Also when lifted the arms are at a different angle and without SPC uppers you're not going to get much more (if you even get there) anyways.

I think I've mentioned it once before, but I currently work at a custom alignment shop...

A very nice lightweight tire. I run it on my ‘05 RC Tacoma.

if your tundra is a weight weenie, sure.

to me, my tundra is a fat pig so I want to just dump weight on it and say f it. Because big dog gotta eat.

I’m not sure on longevity. But in 245/75R16 she is one of the lightest AT’s I’ve stumbled on. And dirt cheap if you get new takeoffs from a Taco SR.

When I got mine done, they said they maxed out the caster. My steering is incredibly heavy, and refuses to self center. It's also very darty on the highway.

Can you mix zerex pink and zerex red? I've had a strainer blowout

Replaced with my spare hose I keep in the truck since I installed the strainer. Just need coolant now...

It says "Asian Red/Pink" on the bottle. It says it's Toyota compatible 1990+. I personally prefer Zerex Asian/red, but I think you're good to go here? What did you put in it originally?

This is why - and hopefully it doesn't get annoying af at times - I tend to tag you on shit like this.

@Casper421 is also a great resource. I'm glad both of you guys are on here to provide input. Thanks for that.

Which uppers did you go with, again?

Looks like they went from good to bad on the left. I’d probably do the adjustment myself to see if it can be made better and then bring it in for another alignment.

My guess is either the alignment was too far out of whack, the machine couldn’t correct it (happened to me) or there’s something wrong with your front end in the way it was put back together after you did the upgrade.

Im guessing it was the machine.

Strainer likely catching the last of the scunge. Red and pink are compatible.

That's crazy that 1.0 was maxed out for caster. The last time I got an alignment they had my caster at like 5. I said that made me a little nervous and they got all pissy and lowered it to around 3.5. jpink and I both had weird experiences with them so this time I'm going to a different 4x4 shop. I don't have any heavy steering issues but it does get a little scary if I hit a giant pot hole at highway speeds.

I'm actually going to slap a $10 bill on a Monster in the cup holder and leave a note saying it's for the alignment tech.

Retards maybe? Do you have SPC uppers?

Should be able to get at least 1.3-1.5 even with 3"+ of lift. They probably have the lower adjusters backwards.

Typically the front two should be pulled inwards to get the caster/camber even'ish and the rear two pushed max outwards for pinchweld/footwell clearance.

    All good.

Yeah, 5 is way too much. I think the other Erik/Eric/@alb1k ended up above there (5.5?) and backed down to 4.5 with his Solo arms.

I'm pretty sure they just didn't know what to do. I only have freedom uppers since I'm a broke ass. I got the lifetime alignment and my buddy knows a guy at the other firestone that knows 4wd alignments. I need to adjust my coilovers and add my AAL then I'll go in again. Probably take off my sway bar links too. They're rattling.

Welp, surgery is done and the mystery is solved. It was a 2-3mm cube shaped ~1.5cm long column of glass in the kid's foot. Speculation is, when she was up past her bedtime crafting on her floor, there must've been a random shard of glass in the rug from something. We tell the kids not to keep glass glasses in their rooms for exactly this reason.

When she panicked because she knew we were walking in and would catch her, she thought she stabbed herself in the foot with a nearby thumbtack and suspected that made the wound mark and soreness/pain. I knew something was up when it would swell and bruise around the area after any physical activity - from the glass moving around in her foot. Apparently her sportsball practice helped it to migrate quite a ways.

Lesson learned. Now I can rail the shit out of the youngest to explain this is why you can't keep glass cups in your room.

Dang! Glad it all worked out. Friend of mine had a stick imbedded in his leg from when he went down hard playing tackle football in the front yard. Didn’t realize it at the time. Some many months later it festered back to the surface. He was a tough SOB, popped it like a zit and pulled a 2” long piece of stick out of his flesh. Crazy.

It's also a good reason to teach them to vacuum their rooms on a regular basis. A bit of glass like that is easily tracked in on someone's shoe.

Doc told us a similar story about a kid who stepped on a toothpick. It ended up migrating to the top of his food and when he came in, there was literally a green slab that looked like fungus on the top of their foot. As soon as she took the scalpel to their foot, it slid out like butter.

There's a plump, soft area on the top of most people's feet about 1-2" in front of your heel bone on the top/side of the foot. It's a naturally plumper, fatty area around one of the digitorum brevis muscles. That's where this thing worked its way toward, which is about 3/4" from the wound. Settled in one of those pockets of fat. could've been way worse if it'd have moved backward/upward into her ATFL.
