Yeah I drove it like that for 3 days not really sure what the smell was. Didn't think it was that serious but maybe I was just lucky.

If I'm being honest, I didn't do a thing to it. Slapped the alt in and sent it. Is that a good idea, no probably not. It's up under the valve cover but it's not the valve cover itself. I didn't really have the time nor the borescope camera to look up in there. May be the timing cover, seems like maybe I read that somewhere. Need to do some more research and put a plan together. I hate to be the guy to tag @empty_lord but I know he knows a thing or 2 about the 2GR-FE.

I'm not overly attached to this car, don't want to see it burn or anything but might be a good reason to stick a fire extinguisher in the car.

you've got a leak up top, but not the cover? it might be the cam tower. if thats the case, thats an engine out repair.

The alt is usually inline with the pulley visible on the left of the picture. So dripping from somewhere above there. Could it be timing cover or would it likely be cam tower?

Typically timing cover leaks are where the head and block meet. That looks more like it may be a cam tower leak. But it really needs to be cleaned off to get a good look over a couple hundred miles

Biggest problem is once the alt is there you can't hardly access that area or see much. If it's an engine out deal it sounds like I better keep an extra alternator and a fire extinguisher around.

honestly its usually such a slow leak that it'll take 5-10 years to re soak the alt

I dunno, I've hung out with plenty of coworkers from over there and been over a couple of times now ... I've never gotten much anti-American sentiment in any part of EU/UK while traveling, and I've travelled EU extensively over decades, and don't think your statement is quite accurate.

If anything, in the UK specifically, I'd expect them to find the shirt cheeky, and may even assume you're a local, since it's trendy in some places to wear t-shirts from abroad especially if they reference clearly non-local/non-national things. It's the same way 'keep calm & carry on' caught on here in the states.

I'm going to put this out there for perspective. Maybe it's interesting @CodyP and @txagg too, cuz I think he's ribbing me here :D

When I disappeared to go offroading in Iceland last year, one of the stops en route to Amsterdam was Weymouth UK, our last stop before hopping across the channel to Amsterdam. This vehicle below was parked, camping out, at Nothe Gardens. Google Images for Nothe if you need evidence I'm not full of shit :D

I snapped pics of this camper van to send to my buddy JT in Sarasota because he's a total rocker and I knew he'd laugh his ass off. Looking at these, tell me: Do you really think you'd catch flack for wearing a Skynyrd t-shirt in the UK when a native is driving around in this? I'm telling you, I think your perceptions are off if you believe that, especially when a local would spend this kind of money dressing up their camper van like this in Weymouth.

    On a soapbox for a sec ....

I'll never assume how much traveling anyone has under their belt, nor will I judge you if you haven't traveled a ton, or even none at all. My only pet peeve, and the only time I'll ever give someone hell is when they haven't traveled much (or at all), yet are confident enough to push inaccurate stereotypes about places they've never been. Me personally, I didn't have a choice. I was forced to travel internationally (a metric shit-ton of it) thanks to my work, which ultimately led to me traveling for pleasure. There's a LOT of cool shit out there to see, eat, and enjoy. Travel helped highlight how many ignorant people exist, both here at home and abroad, who just loooove to push inaccurate, unwarranted, and plain ol bullshit stereotypes onto others. Many of them haven't even traveled, but built their opinion from words of others, what they see in videos, or they have ego/entitlement issues (i.e. Karen types) behind those opinions. @Festerw I'd feel really confident wearing your shirt over there. I think you'll probably get a compliment or two, this guy may even spot you and buy you a pint or three. :D

I believe it but for every person that's familiar, you've got someone who doesn't have a clue; typically much younger in age. I'd be surprised if their music is more popular there than in the states.

No way, it's far more popular here. But I'd ask you this: What are the chances I'd be on this forum, someone traveling there would ask about wearing a Skynyrd shirt over there, and I'd just happen to be here with pictures from 8 months prior, in the UK, of a freaking camper van emblazoned with Skynyrd all over it?

Not saying it's hugely popular, but it's at least known enough you'd definitely get a pass, and possibly a pat on the back for rocking it.

Yeah, that was a weird one. We have a site in Oslo. "Norge" = "Norway", but I've never typed 'Norge' to reference it, only 'Oslo'. I still can't figure out why autocorrect changed it to Norge and not North or something. If it was doing it based on my GPS location, near northern Europe, I'd have expected it to know I'm actually in the Nothe gardens, much closer than Norway? Screw Apple.

I had some of the best Thai food in Thailand. But their portions are really small so I had to get two. I like that everything on the menu you can get from 0-5 stars for spicy. You know I got 5. Also, Singapore hooters was just like here, but less uhhhh...... well endowed.
