I wouldn't show up, and if it's mandatory, I'm on the clock. If they balk, then you say "if I can't go do what I want, you are paying me. You don't get my time for free." Had to do that for "company lunches" before. They wanted to basically have a meeting, but you were off the clock for it.

It’s definitely on the clock, but I’m not going to sit there and eat garbage to fit the food agenda for 3 people, im allergic to poultry based bacon.

You know what you do? You tell them you are on the carnivore diet. If they have to meet a vegan's wants, they have to meet yours.

Reading up on them, one downside is that I have to find a town that allows farm animals as pets, otherwise "Bacon" will really become bacon. That probably rules out 80% of MA.

I think the connection being missed here about the work trucks being beat up, and it being an excuse or whatnot, is that it's likely not the owner beating up the truck, as in @Mr.bee's example. Laborers will drive a company truck into the ground without thinkin twice about it.
My company had a laborer bringing materials to a job in a company truck one time, and upon arrival, I could hear the motor knocking, like in a really bad way.
As he pulled up I yelled to shut it off, then asked "what the fuck man? Do you hear that?! Have you even checked the oil?!"
    He answered "no"
I asked "how long has it been sounding like that?"
"probably about 20 miles or so, but alot louder the last few"
dipstick was bone dry. The couple times that I drove that truck I had to top off fluids and air up the tires because nobody else gave a shit. The truck was a total loss and it never phased the dumbass that blew it up. He just said "sorry" and that was that.
Thats one example but it's a common occurrence that I've seen

I do wonder if my smashed scanguage cable contributed to the airbag problem. Definitely curious. Or perhaps they were unrelated issues and that bag just died of natural causes during my long drive north.

This is the answer. 75% of the guys I work with just don't give a fuck. This truck I just got has the same miles as the van I turned in at my old job. This truck was nasty. I had to change the oil as it was 5,000 over, needed new wipers, and hadn't been washed in God knows how long. There's just random shit stashed everywhere. Before I turned that van in I made sure it was ready for someone to jump in and go.

There's a yard who has a bunch of Tundra and Sequoia on eBay, near Sacramento. I do have a horse haul planned early next month. I'll give them a call but man it's always tricky to juggle these things via the phone, much better to be there in person.
We might be bringing a car up so it might be possible to pick up some things with the car and not be too far behind the horses, all depends on timing.
There is a yard with Toyota nearby but I went there and walked it and asked for price quotes months ago and never heard back. Still, could potentially go there again and see now that I have a clear mission on what I really need vs what I just want.

Around here you can only get away with that if it's certified to be an "emotional support" animal.

I’m not sure a how a pig would respond to seeing me eating bacon in front of it. My guess is it would want some. Especially if I was at the Waffle House with the pig as an emotional support animal. People would definitely take pics, though. :D

It took me 20 minutes to remove all the glue residue from the stickers Toyota put on these.

I'm assuming there is a good reason why Toyota doesn't paint the area where the ball joint rests? I'm getting these prepped for install this weekend.

    Interesting.

Honestly, one thought I had about bailing on the airbag(s) was that I'd like the seatbelts tensioners to work in a crash situation. But if I could do this as a temp fix and get the code reset then I'd potentially have driver bag while I hunt for the passenger one and no light? Which is better than no bags and no belts?

You're worried the emulator f's s up and the SRS computer throws a hissy and deploys the working bag?

That seems unlikely, right? Worst case the emulator messes with the SRS module and it cries and takes the ball and goes home, right?

The dealer reported "short in passenger airbag" which I take as a low resistance reading by the SRS module so swapping to this could resolve that and behave as if the passenger airbag is off (which is possible with the key anyway so I can do that for a visual indication). Then it's at least safe for the driver in theory?

It's somewhat unclear to me what is correct for my kids in a RC, passenger airbag on or off. They are in booster seats and are 60 and 50 lbs so I've left it on previously but it's possible that it does more harm than good if it were to deploy. And then the center seat only has a lap belt so it's of questionable safety as it is.

How would this f up the passenger? I'm not saying this in liu of hunting for a replacement airbag, but more of maybe it's a way to get the rest of the system functional while I hunt for that bag? Otherwise am I to take the "too risky to even drive it" approach? Just because I don't have an airbag?

I figure no kids in it for now, no big deal, I have 2 other trucks :)

    Studs Baby, Studs!

    Oh, stop it!

Yesterday, we got 8" of snow in the driveway, and the state snow plows buried the entrance with 12" of hard packed. I plowed yesterday with my trusty '85 Toy plow. This morning the temp hit 13.8 degrees below zero. I had to plow again and work the snow thrower a couple of hours. Life in paradise. (north of Ward in NW Boulder County).

    Really looking forward to summer!

Stupid question, but is the fault still present when you turn off the passenger airbag with the key?

Same question I ponder in my head. We got 11" of snow last night so I haven't picked it up yet. I ran home after dropping it off yesterday (just shy of 12 miles) so maybe I run there tomorrow. A little too slushy to ride I think.

Can't ask the wife for help b/c it'll pick a fight (sell 2 of your trucks!) but the sis in law maybe (picked her up from a hotel this morning b/c she got stranded with all the snow.) I was thinking I'd hitch a ride home with the electrician but he's not coming tomorrow anymore.

I also had this small sliver of hope that maybe they'd be bored at the dealership today and brainstorm a solution for me but I think the dealership has their hands tied, they can only do above board stuff and there's no legit way to get a replacement part on this one.

I think SRS codes have to be manually cleared vs clearing on their own but a battery disconnect isn't a terrible idea.

And at this phase I might just do the wheel swap without fear, knowing that SRS isn't working anyway. It's just that the new wheel is grey instead of moon mist so my truck is trending 2 tone interior, grey seats and maybe wheel with blue-grey other stuff.
